n’t grasp was it takes about forty-five days to verify a physician’s education, training and professional work history with primary sources, followed by a lengthy review and authorization by several committees. And for nearly a year after that, I enjoyed staying home to read, write, organize my house, and bond with two grandbabies who arrived during that previous, tumultuous year. My stomach churns at the thought of going back to work, applying make-up every morning, donning a suit and pumps, and rushing out the door, spilling coffee on my way to the car. Parking my car, I collect myself, take one last sip of coffee, and put on a happy face for the next ten hours, while greeted by negative vibes seeping from every corner office.
And the amazing thing is that it wasn’t my previous day job that helped prepare me for this position, but my “side hustle” work. Starting in 2011, and especially picking up speed in 2013, I did a lot of product reviews, blogging, and freelance writing. As for freelance writing, I wrote a lot of articles for a lot of other people, usually SEO companies. A lot of people are out of work right now, and a lot of people aren’t making ends meet easily, so side-hustles seem to be an undeniable part of our future.
Because I am a writer, I’m always drawn to movies about writers, especially if the main character is a writer. Starring Paul Giamatti, Thomas Hayden Church, Sandra Oh, and Virginia Madsen, this movie depicts two best friends, Miles and Jack, going on a wine tour vacation in honor of Jack’s upcoming wedding day.
