Highlights
Zero waste grocery shopping

Whilst the environmental impacts of this ‘disposable’ society are massive and revolting a really comprehendible way of approaching the zero-waste subject could be this; You are just going to unwrap the item, throw the packaging in the bin and use the product. I can stock up on exactly the quantity I will need of pantry essentials, shampoo and conditioner, herbs and spices, dried fruits, cleaning products, CHOCOLATE BUTTONS (yes you hear me correctly) as well as fresh seasonal produce. I needed a single apple for a recipe I’m going to try and one vanilla pod below which has since been made into vanilla bean paste for baking, a candied half pod as a cake decoration and a small bottle of vanilla extract. I took the jars and bottles and abeego wrap with me although if you’re short on these items there is a jar bank at the store where I will be taking my excess jars later in the week, or you can buy pretty reusable packaging there.

Bisou Les Madeleines

As a little girl my family would spend months where possible visiting family in the French Basque Country where the highlight of the day was waking up to as many madeleines as we could eat dunked in hot chocolate and black coffee for the adults. Normally you can find everything in London but one thing I hadn’t managed to uncover is the same quality Madeleine as you find across the channel. Here we discovered Bisou Les Madeleines, an East london based patisserie founded by pastry chef Helene who was born in northern France, where the madeleine originates. The bisou box which I was kindly gifted, contained a selection of flavours including matcha and roasted almonds, candied orange peel and orange blossom glaze and almond with an elderflower glaze amongst others (see here for all the flavour combos).

Trying Healthy Treats

These bad boys contain no dairy, refined sugar or gluten and are literally heaven. The raspberry flavour is good and they are raw, contain no dairy, refined sugar or gluten however they do have that ‘healthy’ taste which means when you are craving something sweet My verdict : These products taste like the real deal if not better because the cola flavour doesn’t have an artificial overly sweet taste and the gummy bears have a really fruity taste . I LOVE that these don’t contain gelatine because sometimes you want ‘proper’ sweets and these look and taste like a real treat.
