I am coming to learn that being a mom is so much more than just keeping a human alive. It’s encouraging them to become the best person possible and to dream big. While I am not a fan of screen time for a 6 month old, I do think it’s important for Isabelle to watch the first @nasa spacewalk with 2 women. These two are extraordinarily driven, strong, competent, and inspiring human beings. In their own words, they are just doing their jobs which they have trained for extensively. They encouraged all people, not just women, but everyone who has a dream to work hard to make it happen. I don’t know about you, but dancing is one way I love to experience the world. Salsa dance is a great way to hear some amazing music from a variety of countries and meet new people. In #Seattle, @centuryballroom has lessons and dance parties multiple nights a week. I suggest trying to go on a night they have a live band, the experience is even more amazing! Today is #NationalBlackDogDay ! It’s a day just for our big man. For those who don’t know, our fur-child’s full name is Captain Malcolm Reynolds and is a mommas boy! This bundle of energy is also an amazing big brother to Isabelle, so gentle and attentive. I can’t wait until Isa is a little bit older and able to play fetch with Malcolm. Hours and hours of full will be had by those two. ⠀ ⠀ Did you know what there is a “Black Dog Syndrome” where black dogs are passed over for adoption in favor of lighter-colored animals. To say that I enjoy #Oktoberfest is a bit of an understatement. I love the costumes, the dancing, the beer, the music, almost every part about it. My favorite local Oktoberfest is actually in a Bavarian town just 3 hours from #Seattle, in Leavenworth. #TBEXBillings was a fun experience, for a multitude of reasons. It was our families first multi-state #roadtrip, over 800 miles one way. It was also the jumpstart I needed to get my blogging butt back into high gear and switched over to #FamilyTravel. I enjoyed spending time with my fellow #contentcreators in the #travelblogging world. After not only surviving but thriving during my trip, I’ve come up with a few tips, tricks and must haves to make long international flights when pregnant as easy as possible. I suggest getting a letter from your doctor before you go that includes your estimated due date, dates of travel, destinations and a statement that your doctor has cleared you for travel. While decreasing your travel time is pretty important, remember that you’ll be moving slower than normal, so make sure you factor in extra transfer time between planes, getting to and from the airport, and transport in general. It isn’t fun having to rush when you’re also carrying another human along for the ride, so set yourself up for success and make sure you choose flights that allow for extra time.
From skydiving, to leech dodging, to raising a purebred German Shepherd, I enjoy pushing my limits and trying new things. Cue the late night diaper change by her father which resulted in a spatter of projectile poop ending up in his mouth and me laughing until tears fell. Through travel, through good food, through kind strangers, through delayed trains, through learning to entertain herself while on an overnight bus moving from one country to the next country, through finding her own place in the world. If you have suggestions on places to go, things to see, first words to get Isabelle to say, how to work when sleep deprived, you know… suggestions, shoot them my way.
