Jersey, the biggest island in the UK’s Channel Islands, situated a mere 14 miles from the coast of France, is known for it’s beautiful beaches, stunning coastal walks and pumping surf. It’s the understated little brother beach of popular St Brelades beach (the two beaches connect at low tide). It’s also one of the best beaches in Jersey to visit at high tide if you approach from the sea (hire a SUP or kayak from St Brelades and paddle round). ’s a lovely 10-15 minute circular coastal walk from the car park which gives incredible views of the beach Portlet is one of the best beaches in Jersey for it’s picturesque sheltered cove, complete with tidal island of l’Île au Guerdain (otherwise known as Jamborin’s tomb).
Visiting Sark, the tiny traffic free island in the UK’s Channel Islands, is one of the best trips we’ve ever been on. Visiting Sark is certainly a trip back in time as the island has no cars and visitors must either cycle or take a horse and cart. The island’s blanket ban on motors means the only modes of transport are horse & carriages, tractors and bicycles resulting in an unhurried, leisurely feel to island life.
