National Geographic exhibition at Nauticus now thru April 25, 2021 – Planet or Plastic?, an exhibition by National Geographic, shines a spotlight on the fragility of the natural environment as a result of the global plastic waste crisis. This exhibit in the Nauticus has amazing National Geographic photographs of plastics causing environmental damage and harming animals in striking ways that only a National Geographic photographer could truly capture. And as you walk through the end of the exhibit you find yourself right in the heart of the Nauticus Museum which is an amazing museum.
Join the Nauticus Museum for a socially-distanced virtual community clean-up on April 3, 2021 in celebration of our traveling exhibition by National Geographic “Planet or Plastic?”! Help beautify your City & stop litter from washing down to our ocean by cleaning up your local neighborhood, park or beach. The scholarships are open to members of the public of any age who reside in James City County, York County, the City of Williamsburg and to all Williamsburg Farmers Market vendors and their family members and employees, including those who do not reside in the local area. Applications are available on the website at www.williamsburgfarmersmarket.com or at the main tent at the Farmers Market, which begins regular Saturday operations from 8 a. m. until noon April 3 in the parking lot at 401 West Francis Street, on the corner of Francis and Boundary Streets adjacent to Merchants Square. The Williamsburg Farmers Market is a non-profit 501 (C) (6) organization with the mission to sustain, foster and operate a weekly farmers market in Merchants Square for growers and producers to sell fresh seasonal food and farm products direct to consumers in the Williamsburg area. The market operates with the generous support of its founding sponsors, the City of Williamsburg, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and Merchants Square; and additional sponsors including Colonial Farm Credit, Farm Bureau, Founders Village Apartments, Howell Creative Group, Riverside Doctors’ Hospital, TowneBank and revenue generated from market sales.
