Do you ever wonder how it’s even possible that the world we live in is just so dang beautiful? The best part is that sunsets, mountains and oceans aren’t trying to be beautiful, they just are. They don’t try to impress anyone, they just do. Do you ever feel like Instagram or social media in general is a chore instead of a fun space to share things? I started this account in high school to post my overly edited photos when I started taking an interest to photography. I’ve always posted outdoor photos, whether I was in them or I took them. Then for awhile I was obsessed with trying to grow my account and having a beautiful looking feed. I got tired of all the work I was putting in with not a lot of return. Then one of my favorite marketers said her account grew tremendously when she posted only photos that she was in. So I started doing that. Then I realized I don’t ever take photos of myself or ask others to do so and that didn’t last long either. Now, as someone who works in marketing, I scold myself for not investing more time in my own social media accounts. But posting pictures of myself constantly or spending hours trying to come up with a clever caption (yes I’ve literally spent hours attempting this) doesn’t always feel right. I’ve made so many rules for myself in regards to Instagram that it was no longer fun for me. So basically I’m here to say that I’m breaking my own rules. I’m going to start posting my outdoor photos again. I’m going to actually use stories no matter what my hair looks like or if I’m in public and afraid of looking silly. Some days I might try and follow along with the algorithm and others I might say f that and do whatever the heck I want. Whether you’re using this app for fun or for business, there are no set rules of how you have to use it. Post once a day or once a year if you want to. You have my permission to do whatever you please. 💁🏻‍♀️

I started making jewelry when I was only 8 😱 and in 2017 decided it was time to start this little venture. I am sooo excited that I will be selling at the @merchantsandmakers market next weekend! For those who are local to west Michigan, be sure to take a look at my stories for the info. Although this year has not been anything like I thought it would be, I’m so happy to be selling at one market for the year and to now be in two shops. I’ll take all of the small victories I can get! If you don’t usually, try and shop small as we move towards the holiday season. Target and Amazon will make it out just fine, but small businesses of all sorts can use all of the love and attention they can possibly get. Plus, you’ll be able to find much more unique and meaningful gifts than any corporation will ever be able to offer. Help me start a list of small businesses to shop!
