Sometimes...it's hard to see yourself as you truly are. Confessional case in point: When I first saw my photos, I was mortified😣 As someone who doesn't spend a lot of time in the mirror, I was obviously delusional about my #reflection & harboring some very unrealistic expectations about how this would all turn out - - Building a business [or 2] via social media mediums, I spend a lot of time perusing some amazing IG pages • full of beautiful women • in beautiful places • striking beautiful poses • adorning beautiful garments - exuding, well, beauty. I must have thought those imagined attributes would somehow #MagicallyAppear in my photos because boy, was I surprised to see - ME... All the heartbreak I've experienced the past few months, the symptoms of depression, the lack of sleep, the financial woes, the anxiety, the confusion, the loneliness & solitude, the growing pains & battle scars, the self-doubt & lack of confidence...it was all I could see looking back at ME... I immediately thought, "How am I ever going to share these with the world?" I made several attempts to do "damage control" [right, @katieiswinnen & @ashleyatpandp 😭] & at every turn I heard - "You're BEAUTIFUL ... You look STUNNING ...Your pictures are AMAZING!" Needless to say, I didn't believe it at first because I didn't see it...and I didn't see it because sometimes, it's hard to see yourself as you truly are.🖤 But here's the thing I learned, don't expect a fancy camera, a bomb photographer [@msayles], a creative director [@lauren.b.jonas] an edit/filter, #flawless makeup, or a glamorous outfit [@partandparcelhq] to do for you what you won't do for yourself. Love of self is an inside job & beauty is ALWAYS in the eye of the beholder - Today, I choose to become the beholder so I can always see ME as ME! ONE • W E E K • AGO • T O D A Y . I boarded a plane [or 2, or 4] for the first time in nearly 10 years... . One week ago today, I made my way through #CHICAGO to the beautiful, sunny state of #CALIFORNIA for the first time in my life... . One week ago today, I met people, important & special, exclusionary & unique, bold & brave at what they do. People who, like me, were doing this #phenomenal thing [to be revealed real soon] for the first time... . One week ago today, I was courageous, excited, nervous, vulnerable, open, anxious, undoubtedly clear & covered in gratitude to not just be a spectator of the #magic - but the MAGICIAN... . One week ago today, I went from being a homebody to strutting the streets of downtown #SanFrancisco IN MY BRA😜[funny story also for reasons to be revealed soon]... . One week ago today, I slept, I ate, I traveled, I stayed out all day, I moved my body, I took showers, I brushed my teeth, I cared for my hair, & my nails, & my skin, I laughed with queens, talked with bosses, dreamed with beautiful strangers, & I left with FRIENDS... . For an empath who lives with depression, anxiety, & ptsd - the STRETCH was real! But for an #Entrepreneur #Visionary #Creative #Advocate #ChangeAgent & #MultifacetedDreamer - the muscle memory was translucent... . The very next day, October 5, 2019 - I came face-to-face with my TRUTH, my destiny, my legacy.
