Our Story: In 2013, while traveling to Peru, Cachi’s founders embraced the need to fill the increasing gap in destination travel – a disconnect with the local people by travel companies. They forgot to take care of the native people that serve travelers with rich history and guidance. With the local Quechua people at the forefront, Cachi set out to change how travelers experience Peru and give back to the local communities. When you travel with Cachi, you are paying fair wages, empowering locals, and helping communities grow. This is living a full Cachi Life.
Our Mission: We provide travelers with unique, passionate, experiences through travel that encompass the desires, traditions, and cultures in which our customers travel.
On day 3 we got to head up and see our wonderful Rayan family. Rayan has definitely changed a lot since COVID-19, but that didn’t stop them from celebrating the reunion.
Watchman’s Hut. Being in Machu Picchu during COVID-19 offered an extremely unique experience that very few people on earth will ever experience. No one was on the first bus up the mountain and when we got there it felt like we were Hiram Bingham, rediscovering Machu Picchu all over again. Having been here before it was insane seeing this place without thousands of people. It felt eerie, even David who had been to Machu Picchu well over 1,000 times had said he’d never seen anything like it. His jitters were that of a little kid, like his first day of school. I’ll never forget how David looked at me after we took this photo. “I have never seen this place so empty and I’m not sure this will ever happen again. This is truly special.” - David Kosloski & David Villagra (Cachi Life)
This next vlog from Peru highlights beautiful shots from around Sacred Valley. Specifically Pisac, Ollantaytambo's Inca sites, Salineras, and some of our old friends in Chinchero Town. Also, a snapshot into a Cachi favorite, Tunupa, where we take all of our travelers for lunch on our Sacred Valley Tour. We packed this video with great views, delicious food, horrible jokes and finished it off with beautiful voices from some local Quechua. This authentic experience can be booked through us at Cachi Life, so don't miss out! Help these fantastic local families get back on their feet from the economic loss due to Covid-19.
Check out our latest vlog on traveling to Peru. The best part of this day was seeing the teacher's faces light up when they saw all the amazing things Peru had to offer. Are you ready to make your own adventure story?
Travel experts say that one of the best ways to prepare yourself for your trip is to learn as much as you can about your destination. Others see visiting a new country as an opportunity to learn new things, see new things, and surround themselves in a new culture. One of the best ways to engulf yourself in a new culture when traveling overseas is by learning the country’s local language that you are going to visit. This article will focus on those who are getting ready to travel to Peru, things to know, and learning the Quechua language, one of Peru’s original and endangered languages.
After the drug takes effect, the healers start singing songs, which are known as icaros. These songs are a way for the healer to connect with the plant spirits to help guide you on your journey. During the ceremony, the healer will often go to each individual and sing a specific icaro to help aid their healing. During this time, not only will icaros be sung, but the shaman will do the blowing of smoke or scented air in the faces or general direction of the participants.
