The park’s famous dunes are formed from ancient glacial sand that the waters and wind had manoeuvred into tall dunes, some of which are 250ft (60m) high. The top of the pillars is 50ft (15m) high and offer spectacular views of the river and surrounding area, but the best view is from the river’s south bank. The Broad Ripple Park Carousel, which is over 100 years old, is on the top floor of the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.

Canada’s Sunshine Coast is relatively undiscovered, despite being within day-tripping distance to Vancouver, the largest city on Canada’s West Coast. British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast consists of two parts, the lower Sunshine Coast and the Upper Sunshine Coast, separated by Jervis Inlet and linked by a regular ferry. There is a bike lane that stretches beside the road that links the lower Sunshine Coast towns of Gibsons, Roberts Creek, Wilson’s Creek, and Davis Bay, and the fact that it is relatively flat means it is excellent for beginners. You would need to catch the ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale, and if you are heading to Powell River, then the bus goes on the ferry that links the lower Sunshine Coast to the upper coast.

Caddo’s 50 miles (80 kilometres) of waterways also makes it a must-visit landmark for canoeing or kayaking in an area of staggering natural beauty. Enchanted Rock is one of the largest rock formations in the United States, the domed shale rock reaches 425ft (129m) high and has stunning sunset views from over Hill County. The caverns are formed from limestone and include a spectacular 60ft (18.29m) natural limestone bridge.

Florida’s cities are fast becoming cultural hubs with museums dedicated to Salvador Dali’s masterpieces, Wynwood Walls graffiti area in Miami, and the SHINE Mural Festival in St Petersburg bringing artists from across the world to this southern state. The Kings Bay Area of Crystal River offers year-round warm waters fed from natural springs, creating a safe environment for manatees during winter as they are susceptible to hypothermia. The museum offers visitors a glimpse at 1920s Florida life, Bartlett’s art, environmental preservation, and creative expression. Art on display within the house includes examples of Bartlett’s work and pieces he and his wife collected, including ‘The Old Guitarist’ by Pablo Picasso and ‘Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte’ by George Seurat.
