Hike more 🥾 worry less. 🌿 I traveled up to Alaska recently and visited my friend @KristiTrimmer. After a busy few days at her @alaskawildfree booth at the @officialalaskastatefair, we set off to explore more of Alaska. First up was a hike up to the outlook to see Exit Glacier in @kenaifjordsnps outside Seward. Sad to think that just a few years ago, the tongue of this glacier came to just below where we stood.
Nature is just incredible. Drop a ♥️ in the comments if you agree. On my recent trip to Alaska, fishing was at the top of my bucket list. Nature had other plans and unfortunately I wasn’t able to go. Travel is all about being flexible and I’ll just have to go back to try again. This is the Kenai River and I want to go back here with a guide to fish for trout and then back to Seward for salmon and halibut fishing. #alaska #america #folkscenary #visitusa #lastbestplace #explore #epic_shots #alaskalife #alaskaadventure #riverfishing #fishinglife #mountainsarecalling #wildalaska #womenwhofish
This view never gets old. Cruising along the Chicago Riverwalk is my favorite way to see the sights and the city's stunning archietcture. (ad) Yesterday, @sagescott.kc talked about her favorite bridge to walk across. Hers was Golden Gate Bridge which oddly enough I haven't seen yetr. All of Chicago's downtown bridges are my favorite to cruise underneath. It's just stunning, even on a cloudy day like this one. What is your favorite city tour or cruise you've been on? If you want to take a cruise in Chicago or book an outdoor tour for your next family vacation, I highly recommend @Viator. I book my tours through them both at home and when I travel. It's been a hot minute but travel looks good on me. Don't you think? 📌 Little Susitna River near Palmer, Alaska on the way to the Independence Mine State Historical Park. I was with @salmonberrytours to visit the mine and a local Muskox farm. Haven't done an introduction for a while and since I've been absent for just a bit, now's a good time to say "Hi" 👋. I'm Nicky 🤹♀ I like coffee, red wine, good food, being out in nature, and traveling. I would say I'm more of a sunset lover as it's hard to get up for sunrises. But both are equally spectacular in my book. 🌇 I grew up in the Southern California desert, graduated college in Texas, and have lived in 4 states. Currently living in Oklahoma. I have three great kids; all teenagers. The eldest is off adulting and all make me a very proud mama. Even though our name LilFamAdventure, the kids are not featured here that often because they've requested it to be that way. So instead you get pictures of where we are/have been, a bit of inspiration, and me. Favorite Food - 🌮 Favorite Color - Red 🔴 Favorite Book Genre - Historical fiction 📚 Favorite Destination - The last place 😼 New hobby - nature journaling 🦦 Learning how to actually use my DSLR camera and take it off auto mode 📸 Last trip - I traveled to Alaska earlier this month. What a trip! I spent time in Anchorage, Palmer, and Seward. 12 days just wasn't enough time. I didn't share much while I was there because I was just so tired (jet lag and hard time sleeping - seems to get worse as I get older). Still trying to catch up, but I'll have more photos very soon! Alaska is more than I ever imagined! On this first trip I wanted to see sea life and did I!! I went out with @majormarinetours for their Resurrection Bay cruise. On the 3.5 hour cruise, I saw orcas, sea otters, stellar sea lions, bald eagles, puffins, and Dall porpoises. Plus the scenery was breathtaking despise the misty rain. What a day!! When in Alaska…… try new things Visiting the @officialalaskastatefair and found @lastfrontieraxe offering $1 throws. Hit a bullseye my first throw, but sadly the camera wasn’t rolling. Go figure…. At least I’m warm and toasty in my Los Gatos fleece that @patagonia sent. Anchorage from the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail Today I went on a 9+ mile bike ride of Anchorage with @alaskatrailguides. Even in the rain, the views were stunning. The trail stretches 11 miles along the coast giving visitors the opportunity to see moose, eagles, bear, and sometimes whales in Cook Inlet. I saw a Bald Eagle and mama moose with her calf. 👚@patagonia R1 Fleece pullover and Windshield Pants @mishmitakin Qatar jacket - these were perfect for rainy weather on the trail. #tonyknowlescoastaltrail #anchorage #alaska #alaskalife #alaskaadventure #visitanchorage #travelalaska #shoreline #cityview #bikelife #cyclelife #cookinlet #moodyskies #cloudysky #cloudyday #travelmoments #travelphotography #traveltheworld #travelgram #nochildleftinside
4x4 Off-Roading in Moab, Utah Moab, Utah is home to two national parks and a state park. The area draws visitors who want to hike, cycle, and drive here. is well-known for its sandstone arches and red rock trails. 📍 Snapped this pic of the family suited up and ready to head over to drive Fins and Things in the UTV. I loved driving a UTV through Fins and Things trail in Moab, Utah. This was my first time on slick rock and it was incredible. I was petrified at first but will be something that I'll never forget. If you've never driven or cycled on slickrock before and imagined it would slippery or slick to drive on. I was very surprised at how much grip the tires had and just how much fun it was. You have to constantly adjust your speed, path and braking during this short off-road trail that runs through Moab. I did see some bikes crashing chunks of rock off the slickrock while trying to find grip on the trail. I was told that the UTVs were a lot easier to drive and keep control of while on slickrock because they have more grip than bikes or motorcycles. I didn't go very fast at all, but it was enough for me to feel comfortable with how I did in my first off-road experience. It was definitely something I'd love to do again. If you find yourself in Moab and want to experience the area off-road, check out the tours available through @viatortravel. You can book UTV tours, rafting trips, paddleboarding, and guided hikes among others. August is Hike United Month - Let's get out and hit the trails this weekend! WHAT IS HIKE UNITED? Hike United is a way to get people out on the trails, any trail, any distance. During the month of August you are encouraged to go out with friends, family or solo it. The hope is to have at least one group together from every state, banded together under the hashtag #HikeUnited21. This Saturday @swiftwicksocks is hosting their local event in Nashville. I love their Pursuit Hiker socks and featured them and other brands in my summer hiking guide for women with products I use and love to stay cool in the summer heat. You can find that article on my website or follow the link in my profile. Visit @womenwhohike to learn all about Hike United and how you can get involved. What gear can you just not travel without?❓✈️ @travelwkit asked us and featured our answer on their feed. My answer 🤔 - Portable power bank, @Aquavault Flexsafe for valuables, and @eaglecreek packing cubes. When the kids were little, we always brought along window gel clings for road trip entertainment and small bottles of bubbles when we knew we'd be standing in line at theme parks or on the trails. It's hard to throw a tantrum when there are BUBBLES🤣🤣🤩 What are your travel must haves? #travelingwithkids #nochildleftinside #eaglecreek #findyourunknown #travelhobby #tripplanning #adventureplanning #traveltip #adventureawaitsyou #aquavault #travelwkt #packingcubes #packinghacks #packingproblems #packingessentials #packingtips #packinglist #seekdeeper #packitall #travellingwithkids #takethemeverywhere
Are you the person on road trips who likes to stop at roadside attractions along the way or the one who wants to drive straight through and just get there? I'm that person who likes to stop and my husband is the opposite. He'd rather just hurry up and get there. But I think you find the neatest places when you stop, like this! 📍Blue Hole - On Route 66 in Santa Rosa, New Mexico The Blue Hole is a natural swimming hole and popular scuba diving spot (by permit). Who would have thought you could scuba dive in the middle of the desert? The water is a constant 61˚F 🥶, but such a relief in the hot summer temps. For the brave few, there is also cliff jumping into the water. We are both certified divers and hopefully one day we'll be back to dive this. If you find yourself along Route 66/Interstate 40 east of Albuquerque, this is definitely worth a stop. #route66 #bluehole #swimminghole #newmexicotrue #blueholenm #blueholenewmexico #newmexico #onlyinnewmexico #newmexicooutside #newmexicooutdoors #outdoorsnewmexico #travelnewmexico #travelusa #traveladventures #wateradventures #summerroadtrips #travellingwithkids #nochildleftinside #scubadiving #bluewater #highdesert #highdesertlife #nmtrue #gramofenchantment
