Here are some fun ones for kids, including free colouring pages, word search, crafts, and more. As younger children don’t always understand food precautions, you don’t want to take the chance of a child finding a long lost egg a week later and eating it. Zena has created so many free Easter printables including colouring pages, word searches, matching activities, mazes etc. Once the bow tie is glued on, and all the glue is dry, your child now has an Easter bag to carry around their holiday treats.
The origins of these might actually go back thousands of years, as the egg is an ancient symbol of new life and would have been celebrated in pagan spring festivals. For Christians, the egg represents life and Jesus’ resurrection, and people are thought to have been painting them at Easter for at least 800 years to then eat on the day of the festival. They come in all sizes, from the mini eggs we hide in the garden for children to find, to the most amazing giant Easter eggs that people gaze at open-mouthed… before tucking in! Whether or not this is true, people have been making spiced fruity buns in spring for hundreds of years and apparently, if you hang one from the ceiling on Good Friday it prevents kitchen fires… what more incentive do you need to get baking?!
Now, there’s a new water bottle that helps you to drink more water and purifies your water right in the bottle using UV light. It’s called Auron Bottle, and it’s the first smart water bottle. Auron’s UV light purifies the entire interior of the bottle as well as the water inside. UV light can harm the eyes and skin with overexposure, but luckily, Auron’s light only works when the bottle is closed.
Gardens can be fantastic areas to exercise in too; many types of outdoor gym equipment are child-friendly, make exercise more novel and fun, and help young people to develop a healthy relationship with fitness throughout their lives. Try adding some play equipment like swings or a trampoline, an obstacle course or bike circuit if you have a larger garden or a sensory area with different textures and smells through various plants and natural materials. They’re particularly useful for kids who don’t like a particular aspect of being outdoors – for example if they’re sensitive to the heat, sun or rain – No matter the age of your children, you’re sure to find a useful way to encourage them to spend more time outdoors with these tips.
