I promised I would show you my real, unfiltered kitchen. . And this was before the older kids got from school! This counter is a black hole I swear! The second it’s clean I come back to another round of this. I have tried every system or productive tip. I’m open to suggestions. I’m successful in some areas of mothering, and while cleaning and organizing is something I’m great at, I. Just. Don’t. Have. Time. . So there you have it. My house was truly a hot mess. But, my kids went to school feeling loved. They had coats and had a great day at school. . They had a warm dinner to eat. They hot showers and warm baths to go to bed clean. . So there you have it. MOTHERHOOD UNSENSSORED. Monday Mental Health hit hard today. Anxiety & Depression don’t care if your dressed for gym or not. It doesn’t care if you have 500 followers or 10,000. . Anxiety & Depression don’t care if your children go out the door in gifted clothes or not. It doesn’t care if your feed is full beautiful styled family photos. It doesn’t care if you have friends at all or your best friend lives in China or next door. . Anxiety & Depression don’t care if your have perfectly supportive husband or not. Weather you have 6 kids, or you struggle with infertility. It doesn’t care if it’s the holidays and covered in snow or weather everyone is outside enjoying the neighborhood picnic . Depression & Anxiety don’t care if you child is on the verge heart failure. Or if you have the most perfectly behaved child at school. It hits ANYBODY. . It hits so many moms after baby, what starts as baby blues ends up with a lifetime of appointments to manage things. And THATS OK! . It also hits women when they forced to be strong on their own for too long! They think it’s just them. And they have to handle everything themself most of the time. (🤗, hey I’m Katie!) And this kind is OK TOO! . I can’t believe how many women across social media see perfect kitchens, perfect trip videos, beautifully styled hair and think, that is all there is. ITS NOT! . People are just choosing not to show you the other side. The other side is ugly and doesn’t wear holiday make up. I’ll show you a picture of my “normal kitchen” later today! . There’s always another side people ARENT showing. and I’ve learned 99% of the time they just aren’t posting it on social media. . So here’s to more REAL. Here’s to more authentic. Here”s to more true, un wiped child faces. . Here’s to more women supporting each other! Its not just you! And it’s not just her. . And now that I feel like I’m starting to come out of the tunnel at the other end. Warning, I’m about to get, real. . This is my Jackson. He is 6 years old. He is stubborn and has a determination and drive that frankly is a little much someone his age and size. But I am POSITIVE it is the only reason he is still with our family on earth. He is brave. No really. This kid does things and goes through things for his heart most adult don’t even have to think about. And he such a good example to me, that when the tide keeps coming knocking you down, wave after wave after wave. He has taught me to stand back up and go again. His resiliency , one day I hope to get to his level. All of my children are special and have gifts and they all teach me different things. I am so grateful this week in particular Jackson came to our family despite our(mostly my) imperfections. .. After being at Primary Children’s this week, Jackson is now sporting new hard ware. I have convinced him he is Iron Man in effort to help him cope with his new gear. But it’s a little to much like IRON MAN to be honest, I have the charge batteries and switch them in and out on top of his new hardware that you see. They are carefully recording everything his heart does for the next while. .. I’m also grateful for modern medicine. My child would not be alive with out it. What a blessing modern medicine is! .. To any heart parent just starting this journey, this Insane rollercoaster, you CAN do this. Yes it’s gut wrenching hard. But you will grow to be able to carry it! Hang in there! As a lot of you know our third child, Jackson was born with several Heart Defects. He and the rest of the family are pretty use to the daily effects and consequences, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t suck sometimes! It’s hard for any parent to watch their child deteriorate in front of your eyes. This is why our family made the move from Texas to Utah, to get then (9 months old) Jackson to better doctors at Primary Children’s. Sometimes we have to be there for long times, some times short times, today we go to see by what percentage Jackson’s Heart Valve is deteriorating down to the decimal!
