Hi! My name is Kait and I am passionate about Interior decorating and making a house feel like home by the products I put into it and use daily. It is important to me to have a functional house but at the same time reflect my style! I have 2 dogs, and a husband!
I’ve heard the age of a house shows when you can see hinges on cabinetry. But that’s okay, I’m not made of money and painting over the hinges, and wood, combined with drilling new holes for hardware really helped give our kitchen an updated feel without breaking the bank! But I do dream of one day having some soft-close kitchen cabinets! A girl can dream! But until then I say…paint them and make them new to you! 🤩 what do you think of them?
There’s really nothing quite like that adrenaline rush you get when you’re shopping secondhand and find an amazing deal on something different and unique! It’s the thrill of the hunt for me! So even if I have a huge budget one day, I’ll still be out thrifting 🤩 Most of this room was found from thrift stores / antique malls / or @facebookmarketplace ✨ Do you love the thrill of the hunt too?! Follow along if you have this same love!
When I rented, I was all about the annuals in containers and don’t get me wrong, I love annuals for container gardening and planted in the ground also! But I’m all for perennials that come back year after year that I don’t have to re-plant! How do you feel? Annuals or perennials?!
When we bought our home back in November 2022, we fell in love over a Facetime showing of the house —call us crazy! And we made an offer right after the call from out of state! The front door was top on our list to replace! The door was in very poor shape! Can you tell? Maybe it’s the panels that were taken off of the door that are one of the obvious things that give it away. 🥴 Anyway, I decided on the color I wanted to paint our new door immediately after that FaceTime call…it was a true gut feeling and I ran with it! Sometimes your first instincts can be so right, (and sometimes they aren’t 😉) that you start questioning yourself if it’s the right choice because why was that such an easy choice to make?! And then you get hung up on thinking “well that can’t be the right choice — I haven’t weighed other options yet!” In this case, it was true and I didn’t have to weigh other color options!! Are you like this sometimes?
Dogs and decor, mine are always right there when I’m trying to photograph or snap a video! At least she’s not on the couch here. 🤩 Okay but really, I wouldn’t have it any other way!! Our dogs do get on the furniture and yes it does require more cleaning 🙈 but I still do it anyways! 😆 Just don’t look too closely. IYKYK!!! Team dogs on furniture, or off? What do you say?
You think when I told my family and some of my friends that I found a raspberry colored dining table with coordinating red, green & blue plaid upholstered chairs and that I was painting my dining room top to bottom in navy people didn’t have comments?! Ha! Some told me not to get them, and that they were “really bold”! (Yeah, that’s the goal!) And others would slightly nod their head and didn’t know what to say. 😆 but that’s okay!! Do you. Buy the bold. Mix the patterns. Or be beige if that’s you! Just do you! It’s sooo much easier to be in your own league than trying to decorate or make choices to please others or because “that’s what’s in right now”. Double tap if you agree. 🤍
Would you try the Unexpected Red Theory in your own home? How do you feel about this theory by @intayriors ? I personally love it, whether it’s a big dose like I’ve done in our nursery, or a small dose with accents! I’d love to know what you think! ❤️
RIP, to one of my favorites, my blue + white lotus planter! 4 years ago I had a CVOID home project to make our rental front porch into a relaxing area to hangout when we lived down south and this $6 planter was one of the very first things I thrifted for decor! So, knowing it’s worth has me bummed 😆 but it’s just an item, and I will manifest another! My cactus has lived in it for 4 years, you can see how small it was at the beginning of the reel so it’s safe to say he needed to be re-potted anyway. Who do I blame? My dogs. It’s always the dogs! Can you relate or nah just me?!
Enjoying everything around our home that’s blooming for the season! All of the perennials were established here at our home when we bought it and the one I love the most?? The Oak Leaf Hydrangea that will have large white fluffy blooms probably next month! (If I’m remembering right from last year!) that one is by far my favorite! I’ve always loved hydrangeas but the Oak Leaf has its own unique look! Now I’m just trying to learn all about gardening and what else I can plant that will come back year after year for my gardening zone 6b! What are your favorite Perennials? 🌺
What else is there to say?! I have champagne taste…but on a beer budget. 🍾🍻 I like all the nice things to decorate my home with, but this girl is on a budget….thanks to thrifting I can buy a rich person’s donations!! IYKYK!!! 😆 Can you relate orrrrr?
Let’s debunk a common myth. You might disagree, but I think painting a space darker can actually help it appear larger! I mean I’m no expert, but I feel like it packs a punch and makes a statement while adding depth. I also think it’s important to note how much light a room gets through the day as well. In certain rooms of my house, I’ve loved going moody where we have enough outdoor light to pour in. Now in our entryway, where there are no windows, we painted it white! What do you think?! Happy Wednesday! 🌟
