Meet a Helpline Volunteer: Gladys

Even though I was BRCA negative, my mom, aunts, cousins all developed breast cancer. My mom had developed breast cancer when I was 23. With my additional knowledge, my aunts went to breast surgeons and to Sloan Kettering which was known to be excellent for breast surgery at that time. She was of sound mind and began the Side By Side program in her 80's, whereby SHARE ladies would lecture incoming Medical Students at NYU Medical Center and Westchester Medical Center about "Doctor-Patient Communication.

Ovarian Cancer Research News from SGO 2019

This study gives us a preliminary answer to the question, “Can we try PARP after PARP to treat recurrent Ovarian Cancer? Plus we saw promising phase II trial results for a Pembrolizumab, Bevacizumab, and Cyclophosphamide combination for Ovarian Cancer. This study is looking at the effects of risk reducing surgery for those who have a hereditary risk of ovarian cancer to remove Fallopian tubes before menopause and then remove the ovaries after menopause. Announcing My MBC & Me: A Metastatic Breast Cancer App

SHARE is excited to announce the launch of mobile iOS app My MBC & Me, designed to empower people with metastatic breast cancer and improve communication and decision-making with their doctors. My MBC & Me is a mobile iOS app that empowers people living with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) to better manage their treatment and communication with their care team. It provides disease and treatment information and tracks appointments, medication, treatment history, side effects, and symptoms. My MBC & Me allows users to upload and pin their research, notes, voice memos, and questions directly to calendar appointments, promoting more productive doctor appointments and enhanced patient self-advocacy.
