And Every Word Is True by Gary McAvoy: Newfound Evidence Reveals In Cold Blood Is Not The End Of The Story.

As someone who loves to read the odd True Crime book and listens to My Favorite Murder, I have of course read Truman Capote’s In Cold Blood. Every Word Is True sheds some incredible knew light in the story of the Clutter murders in Kansas in the 1960’s which we all thought was a cut and dried case, that we all knew what had happened. What he had were just personal notes on the case and copies of the case files, but when he went to sell the signed books, copies of In Cold Blood signed by the author and the people involved in the case and the film, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation came down hard on him and started a legal battle that would take four years and cost upwards of six figures, even though the case would be thrown out of court eventually. It’s clear that there is even more to this story that the Kansas government are covering up and that this book can’t tell us about, but I always felt like there was more to this case, and now I feel like this book has provided those missing peices where something just didn’t add up.

Should You Celebrate When You Don’t Feel Like Celebrating?

For me, I’ve learned to embrace the emotional tides of Christmas, so I tell stories about the good old days, and have a laugh about them, and accept that I will almost always cry on Christmas Day at some point, and yet also still have a good day. And honestly, a lot of people feel like this at that time of year, it doesn’t bother people or bring them down, which is sometimes the reason we might feel like bottling things up. If you feel like you can’t talk about what’s upsetting you, it can make you feel all bottled up. For me, I think it’s better to think about what’s lost and be sad, but a little grateful for good memories, than to be out somewhere with a smile glued to your face and feeling like the loneliest person in the room, just because it’s an official holiday on the calendar.

French Toast for Brunch at the Water Street Cafe, Gastown.

After a long sleep in, and waking up slowly with a magazine and coffee in bed, you slip into something comfortable and chic and head out for a relaxed eat partway between breakfast and lunch. Water Street Cafe in historic Gastown was recently looking for bloggers to try out their brunch menu, so I didn’t have to think twice about jumping at the chance. The Water Street Cafe serves brunch on weekends and holidays, they also open up the patio area from April, so you can eat outside too. Whilst the menu is diverse, I think I will be spending a lot of time here with Summer nibbling on French Toast.
