Happy Easter Babygirl! Easter came a little early for our sweet girl from mommy and daddy. Bailey woke up a couple of days ago and told me she wanted a big girl room, with a desk and a reading area, and she wanted to donate her toys and take some down to her Gaga’s house. So, we did just that. Bailey donated EIGHT trash bags full of lightly used and some even brand new toys, and the rest went to Gaga’s house in her play room there. This girl absolutely deserves a new room, and while she was at Gaga’s house last night for her sleep over I completely redid her entire room! Much to my surprise she called me in the middle of the night and wanted to come home so I drove down there and picked her up. So she got too see her room in the middle of the night instead of today when she came home. The excitement on her face when she saw it warmed my heart so much and made all the stress of getting this room done, worth it! I love you so much princess and I am in such awe of your generosity. In the midst of all this chaos remember to take care of yourself. For me, it’s getting dressed, doing my make up, and fueling my body with lots of water. Maybe even sneaking away to my room to just reset for 5 minutes. It’s not easy to be home 24/7 especially with a six year old who just wants to go to the park, or to the zoo. Be Happy ⋒ This is my reminder to remember to Be Happy and to Choose Joy in the midst of this chaos. I know how hard this pandemic is on me as an adult, but to be experiencing this as a six year old who only understands so much. I choose to explain to her what’s going on, but in terms that she can comprehend. It breaks my heart when she asks when she can see her little best friend and I have to keep telling her, “I don’t know” but that’s the truth, I don’t know when things are going to get back to “normal” or when she will be able to see her friend. I’m so grateful for FaceTime and technology that she can at the very least be able to FaceTime her and family. So as Bailey and I chalked our walk we stopped and had a conversation about Being Happy and Choosing Joy, and what that looks like for each of us. It breaks my heart thinking that this is how Bailey may spend the rest of her kindergarten year. Away from her school, teacher, and friends. However, we are making the most of it at home. I don’t stick to a set schedule everyday. Our home is not her class, it’s her safe place. We do homework and read everyday, but when she’s ready for it. We also do it where she wants, and today it was in my room on my bed, in our pajamas. And that’s okay! Coronavirus. This is an absolute scary time for all of us. There is so much unknown revolving the Coronavirus. The sheer panic shopping that everyone is doing making it near impossible for any of us to buy our essentials. Trump declared this a national emergency while I was at work, and I had no idea. By the time I got off of work on Friday every shelf was empty at Walmart, Target, Vons, Albertsons and so many other grocery stores. Thankfully I was able to grab a few things over the weekend to get us through and with what I already had in my cupboards. I also wanted to take this time that my daughter is out of school to teach her a really important lesson. Giving. Yesterday on Monday Bailey and I headed out to Target and the Dollartree with the hopes of buying some food to donate. At Target we bought 40 things of baby food and at the Dollar Tree we filled up two carts of food. And the whole time Bailey kept asking if we could do more. We filled up the trunk of my car with all this food and the extra toilet paper we were able to find and headed to our local thesalvationarmyredshield to donate everything. The workers there were honestly so surprised with how much we donated and said these words that I’ll never forget “in a time when everyone is hoarding food, you are out here donating it” No one is thinking about the ones who don’t have the funds to go “stock” buy, or the ones who simply couldn’t find anything since everyone did stock buy.
