Half of the felt crowns are finished for the birthday party this weekend! I ordered a bunch of gems for the kids to decorate their crowns with. My daughter wanted to wear earrings but didn't want a piercing. She also found the clip on earrings too uncomfortable to wear all day. Plain white bedsheets were so last season for this ghosty. I painted a styrofoam pumpkin white and cut down a dowel for the legs. The feet are made from air dry clay (you can make your own or buy it premade) and attached to the legs with hot glue. I used @applebarrelcrafts paint to give my "bedsheet" a floral print. Once that was dry I coated the back of the bedsheet with a healthy layer of @modpodgecrafts and draped it over the pumpkin while still wet. The ghost dried for 24 hours while I made little sunglasses out of cardboard and #modpodge dimensional. For all my painting friends who love the look of watercolor but hate loosing control of the paint as is can bleed, try Folk Art Water Color Gelz. These paints go on like transparent acrylics but blend like beautiful water colors with just a little water. I painted the edges of my little school bus with the gelz and then dipped my paintbrush in water before spreading the colors around. I got this beautiful watercolor effect. Decorating my school supplies was always the highlight of the back to school season. We didn't have a lot of money to spare on fancy supplies, so I ended up with a lot of generic and plain notebooks, pencils, etc... One year in high school, I remember using @modpodgecrafts to wrap one of my binders in fabric. Jersey knit is my favorite fabric to use because the stretch helps eliminate wrinkles on the finished notebook. I've used graphic tshirts that are no longer wearable but have a super cute design. I made this notebook with an old toddler tshirt dress that my girls have long outgrown. Another flashback to a Van Goh inspired mural that I painted at a preschool several years ago. I was almost at my ideal weight back then, but then some serious depression, anxiety, and PTSD hit and I gained about 40 pounds. I'm an emotional eater, and I've been working on it. I'm eating better now, and I walk almost 2 miles every day with my dog. I haven't stepped on a scale in a long time because I'm scared of being disappointed, but I am physically feeling better. Mentally, I'm still putting the peices back together and some days are worse than others.
