“Whisky & Donuts” is the pairing of great whisky and the very best donuts in the world! For Spirit of Speyside Tomintoul Distillery have collaberated with “Whisky & Donuts” for a unique tasting experience at the distillery, using specially created donuts which have been developed to complement the flavours of Tomintoul whisky. This brand new event combines a tour of the distillery, hosted by our Global Brand Ambassador, followed by a delicious tasting experience, where you will enjoy four Tomintoul drams together with the donuts that perfectly complement them. A drivers pack will be provided for ‘designated drivers’ so that they can enjoy their whiskies later.
Around the same time as Dunkin’ Donuts coming to life, another company was too; The most famous of these remaining doughnut stands is Randy’s Donuts. Randy’s still uses the same look as the original and continues to serve the same style of doughnuts to this day. Whisky makers in Scotland have revealed that during the summer heat wave last year, they had to halt production because they ran out of water, the Guardian reports. Another distillery near Pitlochry, called the Edradour, lost a few days’ worth of production last year, too, also because they ran out of water, according to the Guardian. It’s not yet clear how future droughts might affect whisky production across Scotland (and scotch whisky, by definition, has to be distilled in Scotland). Heat waves or droughts in the region could have an effect on a good chunk of the industry, whose contribution to the UK’s economy has grown by 10% since 2016, according to an industry body.
How did you develop a love for whisky and all things donuts, and why did you decide to share that love and passion with people on Instagram? Food and alcohol pairing is nothing new, but traditionally, foods paired with libations, like chocolate and cheese, hold a certain standard within the ‘finer things club’ of today’s culture. In this fun and absurd time of ‘influencers’ within social media lifestyles, this mentality is taboo to become bigger and better but makes me insanely happy… Let’s get a bit personal. I know it’s a lame anti-climatic and diplomatically neutral response, but, having had the blessed opportunity to sample whiskies from their source in far away land distilleries makes it truly difficult to choose the best… Although
