I had the opportunity to photograph two wedding receptions at the Harvard Art Museum in 2018; first up, Lana and Caleb’s shindig from September. They were married at the MIT Chapel (the first ceremony I’ve photographed at MIT, in the 12 years I’ve been a wedding photographer in New England), where Caleb completed his studies, and continues to work as the Director of the Open Agriculture (OpenAg) Initiative at the MIT Media Lab. Lana’s work is equally compelling–as an accomplished writer of fiction (check out her website HERE), she just published her second book in a “duology about freedom, beauty, sacrifice, and the infinite power of love,” as stated on her website. Calderwood Courtyard, within the Harvard Art Museum, provides both grandeur and intimacy for a wedding, which I was pleasantly surprised by.
Jonathan Edwards Winery is always a delight to photograph (feel free to peruse a few additional weddings I’ve photographed at the winery HERE), and Elizabeth’s and Mike’s wedding in September was no exception. Additionally, a couple’s family and friends can make or break a wedding day (from my perspective), so I’m pleased to report that they were surrounded by incredibly kind and genuine people–i.e. day-maker! (I was also impressed with Elizabeth’s ability to navigate throughout the vineyard in a ballgown! )
2018 has been (and will continue to be) the season of photographing new venues. There is no water access, or ocean views, but I didn’t miss it. The casual, woodsy vibe offered by the Overbrook House was perfectly suited for Johanna and Todd, who catered their wedding with handmade, wood-fired pizza, and customized koozies for their guests. Johanna also took reception entertainment into her own hands, playing a short set with her Brooklyn based band Groupie.
Well, Maria and John’s wedding day was no exception. Everyone kept their cool, and enjoyed a fabulous reception at a private Brookline estate. I’ve been looking forward to Maria and John’s wedding since I had the opportunity to photograph the Cuisine Chez Vous team for their website early last year. Maria’s parents, Fiona and Eamon, own the catering company, so as one would imagine, when one of their own gets married, no stone was left unturned.
