I was terrifiedddd and it wasn’t easy. But it was a gateway to a life of living on my own terms and the best thing I’ve ever done! 📌 how much does it cost? | #ad I just came back from a week in Rio Carnival on an @intrepidtravel trip, so I’m answering some FAQ! (save this post!) 💃🏽 WHERE IS THE CARNIVAL IN RIO? EVERYWHEREEE ↳ The big samba parade is in the Sambadrome, in Santa Teresa ↳ But the celebration of Carnival is *everywhere* almost all the time (especially the first week) and you’ll run into unofficial Carnival parties “blocos” randomly on the streets too - just go with it 😎 🙋🏽‍♀️ DID I FEEL SAFE? ↳ *Controversial opinion/generalization for tourists* as a Black/POC tourist from the U.S., I didn’t find Rio as intimidating as sooo many people hyped it up to be. I’ve been to more dangerous places, for sure 🧍🏽‍♀️WOULD I GO SOLO? ↳ No. Not just because of general safety smarts but because Carnival is better in a group of friends 1000%! And I say that as a die-hard solo traveler!!! 💸 MONEY THINGS
How much does a Carnival trip cost? ↳ We went on this trip as part of my Solo Not Solo scholarship program, sponsored by @intrepidtravel 🫶🏽 But their group trips are fr a great value - $3454 for 7 days of hotels, 2+ meals a day, activities, local transport, local guide, airport transfer etc etc Here are some standard expenses to budget for if you want to see Rio Carnival: ↳ Carnival performance tickets: $20-$400 depending how boujee you are!
