sick to my STOMACHS fam 😂😂 [SHARE + COMMENT!] If I had let their anxiety cost me my solo adventures, I would have missed… ➵ self confidence in navigating, planning, and traveling on my own ➵ connecting with women around the world & restoring my faith in humanity ➵ some pretty fun dates that have raised my dating standards to the moon 🤭🤭 ➵ how powerful and capable I really am ➵ learning when to trust quickly and when to be cautious ➵ saying yes to some spontaneous, insane adventures because I was solo! Parties in Dubai, afternoons at Xochimilco in Mexico City, screaming karaoke parties in Seoul, paragliding in South Africa… 🪂 I took my first solo trip when I was 17. I was terrifiedddd and it wasn’t easy. But it was a gateway to a life of living on my own terms and the best thing I’ve ever done! Yes safety tips, yes taking precautions, yes not being reckless… But also YES following the call for adventure, not waiting for flaky friends, and not letting other people’s fears become ours 🤧🤧 What would you have missed out on if you never traveled solo? #solotravel #solotraveler

📌 how much does it cost? | #ad I just came back from a week in Rio Carnival on an @intrepidtravel trip, so I’m answering some FAQ! (save this post!) 💃🏽 WHERE IS THE CARNIVAL IN RIO? EVERYWHEREEE ↳ The big samba parade is in the Sambadrome, in Santa Teresa ↳ But the celebration of Carnival is *everywhere* almost all the time (especially the first week) and you’ll run into unofficial Carnival parties “blocos” randomly on the streets too - just go with it 😎 🙋🏽‍♀️ DID I FEEL SAFE? ↳ *Controversial opinion/generalization for tourists* as a Black/POC tourist from the U.S., I didn’t find Rio as intimidating as sooo many people hyped it up to be. I’ve been to more dangerous places, for sure 🧍🏽‍♀️WOULD I GO SOLO? ↳ No. Not just because of general safety smarts but because Carnival is better in a group of friends 1000%! And I say that as a die-hard solo traveler!!! 💸 MONEY THINGS
How much does a Carnival trip cost? ↳ We went on this trip as part of my Solo Not Solo scholarship program, sponsored by @intrepidtravel 🫶🏽 But their group trips are fr a great value - $3454 for 7 days of hotels, 2+ meals a day, activities, local transport, local guide, airport transfer etc etc Here are some standard expenses to budget for if you want to see Rio Carnival: ↳ Carnival performance tickets: $20-$400 depending how boujee you are!
↳ Hotel rooms: ~$200 USD/night ↳ Uber rides: ~$2 USD ↳ Caiparinhas: ~$4 USD ↳ Metro ride: ~$1 USD ↳ Bikini sets: ~$20 USD ↳ Lunch: ~$15USD 💸 WHAT TO DO DURING THE DAY? See my last Reel for the activities + itinerary Intrepid for us into 👀 Also saved in my “RIO” IG highlight. Carnival is so much more than a party - it’s African history, mixing of cultures, celebration, and incredibleeee art and storytelling. Don’t miss it amongst all the fun 🎨🤎🇧🇷💃🏽🦜🥭 #intrepidtravel #grouptrips #carnavalrio

📌save this! Am I Too Old/Young For Scholarships and Travel Opportunities?

Middle school years (age 10 to 13) are the best time to be introduced to the concept of paid opportunities, lump sums of money, paid programs, etc. my schedule is restricted— lack of time will keep me from going abroad, getting a killer internship, or having any real amazing experiences…” Being a college student is the time that allows you the most flexibility in your schedule, opportunities to study and work remotely, be eligible for grants, scholarships, and fellowships, and more. If you want to study abroad, intern abroad or locally, participate in a cultural exchange, start a business, or even get funding to go to college, my paid travel opportunities offer exactly that. I was able to visit 8 new countries completely funded while a college student, and I was awarded another $40,000 by applying to scholarships and grants as a college student.

How Gen Z Can Join the Van Life Movement and Live and Work Anywhere

It hadn’t been my dream to join the van life movement and work online. Here’s how COVID-19 changed my dream from traveling the world to working for myself and joining the van life movement. I did freelance writing, mystery shopping, landed work as an online customer service worker, and then finally worked as a Freelance Social Media Manager. Now I regularly earn money from my blog, have secured well-paying freelance writing partnerships, and earn a better than average salary from the Social Media Management work I do.
