After our visit to the Falkland Islands during our 16 day cruise aboard the MS Zaandam we had a 2. 5 day sail north through the South Atlantic to our next port of call which was Montevideo, Uruguay
After our visit to Ushuaia and then rounding Cape Horn on our 16 day South American cruise aboard the MS Zaandam we headed east over the South Atlantic to the Falkland Islands. The Falkland Islands is an archipelago in the South Atlantic Ocean on the Patagonian Shelf
Although not the most southerly point of South America (which are the Diego Ramírez Islands), Cape Horn marks the northern boundary of the Drake Passage and marks where the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans meet. The cape lies within Chilean territorial waters, and the Chilean Navy maintains a station on Hoorn Island, consisting of a residence, utility building, chapel, and lighthouse.
