I grew up in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Even though I come from a family with Irish & German ancestry, I grew up eating amazing Eastern European food due to the large population of people of Polish, Lithuanian, Ukrainian and Russian descent. We're talking pierogi, haluski, goΕΔ bki, kielbasa, sauerkraut, etc. Port Richmond in Philadelphia is known as Polish food central, but if you travel slightly further north, you'll find a family-run restaurant still making Polish food the old-fashioned way and with a lot of love. Open since 2014, @pierogifactory in the Bustleton section of Northeast Philly is making traditional Polish food with a modern twist. Third generation owner Matt Rynczak, a recent Drexel University graduate and future law school student, is an ambitious young man who wants to help the family business grow. He's hoping items like the Philly cheesesteak and Buffalo chicken pierogies (among other creative versions) will draw a new, younger customer base. He's on a mission to make this ethnic cuisine "cool" - if the items I tried today are any indication, he's well on his way! Full story will be on the blog soon. In the meantime, you must check out Pierogi Factory at 9965 Bustleton Avenue. The smoked kielbasa is some of the best I've ever had. The pierogi is spot on authentic and the goΕΔ bki took me back to my childhood. If you think Polish food is boring, think again. Don't take my word for it, try for yourself. A must visit if you love Polish food! π₯ #polishfood #northeastphilly

AMAZING poke bowls from @pokexpressnj in Haddonfield. If you're a big fan of poke bowls like I am, I highly recommend ordering from them. Currently running as a popup out of @denimbyob at 116 Kings Highway in the heart of town. Fresh ingredients, beautiful presentation, and made with love by Chef Ralph Fernandez (@ralphfernandez), a former Executive Chef when Denim American Bistro was in Cherry Hill. What more could you ask for? When Denim BYOB reopens in September, they are hoping for a permanent storefront somewhere in town. In the meantime, do try them. You won't be sorry! π₯ #pokebowls
Tonight's dinner compliments of @danielrabbitfoods. Legit frozen crab cakes handmade in Philadelphia. I can't wait to share this entrepreneur's story with you! π¦ In the meantime, check them out. I served them over a bed of polenta and stewed vegetables (zucchini, butternut squash, and tomatoes). Delicious! π www.danielrabbit.com
I went over to Caffe Aldo Lamberti (@caffealdolamberti) in Cherry Hill to see how they're doing under continued restrictions. They are taking health & safety very seriously using technology that takes your temperature at the check-in area and hand sanitizer stations throughout the dining areas. They can seat up to 120 guests in three separate outdoor dining areas, including a secluded table area for up to 8. Each area is beautifully landscaped, too. My pictures and videos don't do it justice. They will be ready to accept guests inside at 25% capacity when Murphy allows it. Look for my article soon. http://www.caffelamberti.com/ #caffealdolamberti #cherryhillnj #southjerseyrestaurant
