REALLY? ANOTHER SOLO FEMALE TRAVEL BLOG?
If this question is the reason why you came to check out my bio, you came to the right place because I asked myself that same question. We both know that there are a thousand useful, informative, practical and beautiful looking solo female travel blogs out there.
BUT LET ME JUST ASK YOU THIS
Did you ever visit a city, a viewpoint or whatever and then realize it did not look anything like the photos you had seen on Instagram or online? Did you ever go to a popular tourist destination and then find out it did not match with your preferences? Did you ever think to yourself, I wish I knew about this worst travel experience before?
Is the answer yes to any of these questions?
I know how you feel because I have been there way too many times and that’s why I started Both Feet On The Road.
Is the answer no to all questions?
Don’t close the page just yet. You might still enjoy Both Feet On the Road if you:
SO WHO AM I? My name is Lara, a mid-twenty, Dutch, glass is half air, half water type of girl. I am best described as clumsy, down-to-earth, and sarcastic.
And guess what?
Just like any other girl next door, I love traveling, food, learning new things, meeting new people and seeing new places.
Of course, I could go on listing my other unoriginal hobbies and values, but I don’t think I’ll keep your attention for long that way. But I can kepe your attention by telling what I have got to offer.
THIS IS WHAT I CAN OFFER YOU
#1 Photos that are not the greatest (read terrible). My photos NEVER look like the ones you see on those great travel blogs. I like to have beautiful photos, but I’m not into photography. I just don’t have the patience to take a thousand pictures, change all the settings and edit afterward, just to get the perfect Insta shot. In other words, truly realistc photos
#2 My writing style lacks that inspiring way with words that makes you want to book your ticket and visit a place right now. I am just to the point, honest, and sarcastic. I cannot make things sound beautiful if I think they’re not.
#3 I have the talent to always see a negative side in everything. I can easily give you a list of things I didn’t like about my favorite places in the world! And that’s why I will always share a balanced perspective of the places I went, the things I loved, the things I ate, drank, did, saw, or experienced, so my readers have an honest opinion.
Before I explain about the eighty year’s war with Spain, I think it’s helpful to understand how the Netehrlands became part of Spain in the first place. When Charles (the Duke of Burgundy in 1506) also became king of Spain, the 17 provinces that made up The Netherlands also became part of Spain. This sparked the Dutch Revolt against King Philip II of Spain in a war that lasted 80 years. One of the leaders of the war William of Orange-Nassau (also known as William The Silent), who is also the founder of the Dutch monarchy, or the Father of the Fatherland.
Of course, being Dutch and having traveled by public transport in The Netherlands a lot, I could also write a book about how much Dutch public transport sucks. so I wouldn’t be Dutch if I didn’t complain about our pretty decently organized public transport). In fact, I will be sharing a little secret that all Dutch people use to help them navigate through the extensive public transport network without trouble. So keep reading this Dutch Public transport guide to find out how to navigate like a local!
Canberra is definitely not Australia’s most visited city, even though there are many (free) things to do in Canberra, which I will cover in this Canberra Travel Guide. But if I’m being honest, I can see why many tourists decide to skip Australia’s capital city. Therefore, I decided to write this Canberra travel guide anyway, so you know all about the things to do in Canberra (which are actually pretty nice), and the reasons to visit or skip it. Because even though I did not like the city, I am glad I went as the things to do were pretty interesting.
Self-driving in Uganda is awesome, and with this 4-week self-drive Uganda itinerary, you will be able to see many awesome places that Uganda has to offer! With 4 weeks to explore Uganda, you will be able to take your time at each stop, and with a rental car, you can get to the less accessible places of Uganda too! Because I also included two Uganda travel itineraries that combine self-driving and public transport. With the car, you get to travel a bit faster and get to see less accessible places.
