As humans the things we hate are often the things we most misunderstand. for centuries this has been the struggle of the wolf. A species that has been written about in every modern culture as being a threat to our farms and our children instead of its beauty, power and importance to the land. And nothing can quite compare to being up close to this magnificent and majestic species. #wolf #wolves #greywolf

How to Embrace your Fears when backpacking and ⛺️ camping. As a woman I got a lot of crazy looks when I say I hike, camp and backpack alone. Let me just say that no, I’m not fearless but I do know how to embrace my fears, and it’s come with a lot of practice. Here are some tips to help you be a little less fearful too. 1. **Name your fear**: Identify what scares you. 2. **Address it individually**: Tackle each fear one at a time. 3. **Assess its likelihood**: How likely is it really to happen? 4. **Prepare for it**: Gear up and make a plan. 5. **Know how to handle it**: Have a strategy if it does occur. 6. **Inform yourself**: Learn as much as you can about it. 7. **Read about it**: Books and articles can offer insights. 8. **Take a class**: Gain hands-on experience about wildlife, route finding or emergency prep. Your local @rei might offer just what you need. 9. **Be ok with being nervous**: It’s normal to feel anxious. Face your fears and let the adventure begin! 🌲🏞️ #hiking #backpacking #camping #solofemale —

Throwback to one of the most adventurous months in my life. Spending 4 weeks in Ecuador will always be on my top trips list. ⁣ From rainy days in the cloud forest spotting toucans to epic hikes through the andes, days spent on horseback with the Chagra and many days in the deepest jungles of the Amazon. I walked the Equatorial line in Quito and summitted one of the tallest volcanoes in Ecuador. ⁣ The people, the fresh food, the culture, the architecture and the wildlife will be forever in my memories just as vividly as they were when they happened. ⁣ ⁣ If you haven't watched all my travel videos from this wonderful country, head over to YouTube and check them out. ⁣ ⁣ #throwbackthursday #letsgoplaces #ecuador

When you pack your life full of adventures, it seems to go by in a whirlwind. Full of beauty and colors, moments of excitement and exhaustion, periods of happy tears and laughter and memories etched into our brains until our dying moments. Summer has already packed so many places and experiences into my being, and there’s still so much to come. #memories #lifeofadventure #canada #explore

Best Way to hike Half Dome in Yosemite National park. 🥾 🗻Half Dome is one of the Icons of Yosemite sitting 5,000 feet above the Yosemite Valley. The trail is around 15 miles and has 4,800 feet of elevation change if doing half dome as a day hike. 🎟️Permits are issued in a preseason lottery taking place in March and daily lotteries happen 2 days in advance starting around May 22nd. These can all be booked on Recreation.Gov 🚡The Cables are up usually the Friday before Memorial day and are taken down after Columbus day depending on conditions. The Cables consist of two metal cables with wooden planks anchoring them to the rock every few feet. As they can be rough on hands it is best to bring a pair of leather gloves🧤. The rock face is almost vertical in some places, requiring a fair amount of arm strength to hold on while waiting for traffic as you go up or down which is why a lanyard clipped to a harness or rigging belt is an added benefit for safety. 🧍‍♀️225 hikers are allowed to hike the cables each day, during the permit season. 🎒Backpackers can also add a permit on to the following trail heads - Happy Isles to Little Yosemite Valley - Glacier Point to Little Yosemite Valley - Happy Isles past LYV (Donohue pass eligible) - Sunrise Lakes - Cathedral Lakes - Rafferty Creek to Vogelsang For those doing Half Dome as a day hike, you will want to start around 2 or 3am and plan to be on the trail for 12 or 14 hours. Bring more water than you think you need, a headlamp, sun protection and snacks. Check out my full video on YouTube for more. #backpacking #halfdome #yosemite #california

You can island hop to this hidden gem destination in Washington State. 📍San Juan Islands Washington State There are three main islands to visit in the San Juan’s and here is how I would spend my time if I had 4 days. Day 1: From Seattle drive to Anacortes and take the Ferry to San Juan Island and stay in Friday Harbor at the Cannery Inn a nice sea view vacation rental right in town. Explore the town of Friday Harbour, check out the whale museum, do some shopping and dining. Day 2: Take a full day driving the island. Take a visit to the beaches, meadows and lighthouse in San Juan National Historic Park where you can often spot Eagle, Fox, rabbit and deer. Look for orcas off the coast from the San Juan County park and walk up the stairs at the Lime Kiln Lighthouse for some great views. End the day with a scenic sunset kayak tour with @discovery_sea_kayaks Day 3: Take the morning ferry from Friday Harbour to Orcas island. Take a morning hike in the Turtle Back MTN Reserve, then stop by @orcasislandpottery, an afternoon wine tasting at @orcasislandwinery and a light lunch at the New Leaf Cafe @outlookinn_orcas. Take the scenic drive up Mt Constitution and take in the great views from the top of the observation tower where you can see Mt Baker and the Cascades. Grab dinner at @matia_kitchen for some amazing farm to table cuisine. Day 4: If you have time explore more of the island or head to Lopez island for some biking and more wildlife viewing. For those on a tight schedule hop back on the ferry and return to Anacortes. For more details on this trip check out my YouTube video which is out Saturday. #sanjuans #sanjuanisland #washington #pnw

Time to plan a fall desert adventure to Moab! 🌵Arches National Park, is renowned for its stunning natural sandstone arches, with over 2,000. Arches National Park include its formation history and unique geological features. The park’s famous Delicate Arch is perhaps the most iconic, often featured in photographs and even on Utah’s license plates. The park was established in 1929 and covers over 76,000 acres. It’s home to a variety of wildlife, including bighorn sheep, mule deer, and numerous bird species. Additionally, the park offers breathtaking stargazing opportunities due to its remote location and lack of light pollution, making it a designated International Dark Sky Park. 🎟️ From April 1 to October 31, a timed entry permit is required. Permits can be reserved online, and it’s advisable to secure one well in advance, especially during peak seasons. The best times to visit Arches National Park are during the spring (March to May) and fall (September to November) months. During these periods, the weather is generally mild, making outdoor activities more enjoyable. Summer can be extremely hot, with temperatures often exceeding 100°F, while winter, although less crowded, can bring chilly conditions and occasional snow, making some areas less accessible. Drop your Arches questions below! #utah #southernutah #arches #visitutah

A grueling but epic backpacking trip through the Yosemite High country. Half dome permits are pretty hard to come by in the summer but if you’re willing to backpack there’s more than one way to get access to this hike. Several high country trails also come with the option to add half dome permits which is just what I did. I outline all the details in my new video out on YouTube but here’s a few clips and snaps from the adventure. #california #backpacking #yosemite

People love the Caribbean all year round with its beautiful beaches, cool evening breezes, poolside cocktails and its ability to leave us feeling utterly relaxed and disconnected from our lives at home. And no matter how stressed or upset I ever was, as soon as that plane touched Bahamian air space a smile and sense of elation would sweep over my body. While winter may be the most popular time to visit this area of the world, summer offers great savings, and while the temperatures may be warmer it can still be a great time to visit.
