Highlights
where to find me

I closed this blog in the fall of 2015, but the best of the archives still live here. My email address is laura (at) lauratremaine (dot) com. You can also hear me as a regular co-host on the Sorta Awesome podcast or on my own show Smartest Person in the Room. I still write a monthly email newsletter called the Secret Posts, with recommendations on what to read, wear, watch, and listen to right now.

souvenirs

I’ve loved this space for nearly six years, and I regularly point to blogging as one of the biggest game-changers of my adulthood. I’ve been making lots of space in my life, finding margin because I needed it, because life proved over and over to me that I require it to be healthy and happy. I was hesitant, as I’m sentimental about this blog and I’m proud of the work I’ve done here. I love sharing snippets of our life, beauty products I’ve tried, and books I’m reading, and now all of that will be in the Secret Posts ONLY.

turn your blog into a book

Blurb will slurp your blog's content into a book, but it's not without tremendous effort and re-formatting that you can make it look decent. Blog2Print was really easy to use and had most of the things that mattered to me: I could delete a whole category of posts (I didn't include giveaways, for example), the formatting wasn't THAT bad. It wasn't perfect, and it was very, shall we say, automated (meaning the flow was only about space, if the title of a post was on one page and the content didn't start until the next page, well that was too bad). I didn't like that the photos weren't as large on the page as they were in the post (see what this concealer post looked like on the web), but again, it wasn't something I'm going to make a huge fuss over.

podcasts to pass the time

Since we launched Sorta Awesome in the spring, I've been listening to podcasts with a different ear, noticing right away if it's a show for me or not. They're great in the car (and in LA, you're in the car A LOT), but I also put them on when I'm cleaning up the kitchen or during some other mundane chore.
