This morning we had our annual Christmas cookies at Nana’s house. This was Charli’s 1st year being old enough to participate and y’all... it was interesting. Don’t judge my children off their cookie decor skills lol ⠀ We switched up the sugar cookie recipe last year for a “Sour Cream cut out sugar cookie” recipe my mom got from a coworker, and this year we ran that back. Hey y’all! I just realized I haven’t done an introduction in such a long time. So, hello! I’m Chenelle. A wife, mom of 2 and full time work from home employee (even before the pandemic). I thought I’d list out 5 weird or not so weird things about me to break the ice. ⠀ • I graduated from the University of West Georgia in 2010. I was undecided for almost 2 years and terrified about not knowing what I wanted to be. I ended up majoring in accounting. Mostly because I happened to be really good at it. Funny thing is I work in technology. Life 😏 ⠀ • Both my parents are from the Caribbean. My mom is from Trinidad and my dad is Jamaican. I used to be embarrassed that my parents weren’t like “regular” American parents but now I love it. I admire them and the culture my sister and I were raised in. ⠀ • I have a weird phobia of circles/clusters. I would type out the name of the phobia but then my phone might pull it up as I’m scrolling and I really can’t handle that. Just google it. It’s legit. My skin will crawl, I get itchy and I might cry. I get the same reaction to seeing mushrooms grow in my yard. Soul crushing. I also have this thing with grownups and blue candy mouths but I digress. ⠀ • I was born in NY, lived in Minnesota for some years and then moved to Georgia mid year 1st grade. Moving to Decatur, Georgia from Minnesota was a HUGE culture shock. I also spent every summer in New York with my grandma so the back and forth was confusing. I had no idea what the south would be like but I’m here baybeee and you can’t tell me I flew here 😂 #georgiapeach ⠀ • I love to laugh! It’s probably my favorite thing to do. I have the most forgiving personality and sometimes it’s a blessing and a curse. I can be mad at you, swear I’ll never speak to you again but as soon as I see you I’ll say good morning. I might even get mad at myself because I meant to ignore you but it’s just not in me to hold onto things for too long. I’ve tried. I’ll make a joke about it and move on. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve consciously let Carter walk into a room before Charli so that he can get his shine in before they see “the baby”. He loves his little sister and I know if no one got excited to see her he would equally be upset lol. The faces I made after I asked my husband to get the Christmas tree out of the storage closet for me today. I want to wish a very special young man Happy Birthday! 11 years old and I’m looking around wondering where the time has gone. I thank God for allowing me to be his mother. He’s taught me so much about myself and motherhood. Feels like I’ll blink and it will be another 11 years. Hey IG! This is the most recent family picture we have and it’s about 3 weeks old. All summer I’ve been meaning to take a real pretty one. Yesterday was my husband’s birthday and I decided to have a date night at home, since we still had the kids. I put the kids to bed early, ordered @longhornsteaks online and picked it up curbside. I tried my best to recreate a longhorn feeling in our dining room.
