Sharing our travels to dispel the many myths about cruising.
Vegan for the animals. Cruiser for the FUN of it!
Flying & obtaining meals can be hard when you are vegan. Most airlines to and from the UK do not offer vegan inflight meal options on short haul at all (payable, nor free)
I went on a Christmas markets river cruise with Vegan Travel (see more about the trip here) and it was the best cruise experience I have had in vegan catering terms. Much like their earlier river cruise sailings, the Norwegian fjords ocean cruise was an all-vegan affair with all food, drink, and passengers there for the vegan experience. Vegan Travel started with various river cruises but their first all-vegan ocean cruise dates back to autumn of 2017 – their successful week-long cruise to Norwegian fjords with CMV. This year’s vegan Baltic cruise charters a CVM ship like the Norwegian fjords cruise, for the sole use of Vegan Travel guests.
But I’m excited to tell you that P&O Cruises now offer separate vegan menu options – including desserts! Buffet dining onboard P&O ships will we improved with designated buffet counters and dietary trained staff who should be able to help guests with their dietary questions regarding meal provision (vegetarian, gluten-free, low sugar etc). Overall I am super excited for the new menu, not having been able to order off a menu for the last three years of cruising on mainstream cruise lines. For general P&O insider knowledge, I can heartily recommend you the Holidays at Sea blog whose lovely authors Gav & Luke provided a selection of P&O photos for this post.
Refurbishments of cruise ships are always exciting news for the new upgraded features onboard. This month we received more news on Princess Cruises’ Caribbean Princess refurbishment for summer 2019 and the amenities to be added onboard – news I was excited to hear about and believe many more will too
