When we looked we could get 4 nights in a 3* hotel with breakfast, flights, airport transfer, blue lagoon entry and a northern lights tour with one of these deals for £1040 so we saved over £300 by staying in an Airbnb and booking everything else individually instead. I even found a full day Golden Circle tour which included entrance to the secret Lagoon which cost less than visiting the Blue Lagoon. You could save some money by spending time visiting these museums instead of going on longer excursions and if you want to see a lot of them, there is a city card from £25 for a day which gets you into all the museums and galleries, the zoo, thermal baths and allows you to use the public transport. The tour group is kept running by donations after your walk based on how much you thought it was worth so you can save a lot of money by doing this tour as opposed to others but try not to be too tight with your money.
Although Disneyland Paris is smaller and so a little more geared towards children than some of the other parks like Disney world Florida there are still plenty of thrill rides. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril Located in Adventureland, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril is unique to Disneyland Paris and was the first ride (and only outdoor ride) to feature an inverted section of track. It is located in the Walt Disney Studios and has a photo station (be warned it might not produce flattering photos if you’re anything like me) and a Fastpass queue. It’s one of the only rides I haven’t actually ridden myself but it looks pretty nerve-wracking to me.
There are plenty of different tours that can take you out to the reef ranging from budget day trips to private boats and even multi-day trips. I’ve visited the Great Barrier Reef twice and the quality of the tours can vary greatly. I can’t remember who I went with the first time (it may have been Down Under Dive but I’m not 100% sure) as it was a package with the card which is no longer available in Cairns. Next, we went on a crocodile spotting trip with Daintree river cruises before going deeper into the rainforest towards Cape Tribulation, stopping at a couple of places such as a rainforest boardwalk and ice cream farm.
So if you’re anything like me, you’ve already got the next 10 places you want to visit mentally planned out and will find amy excuse to travel. This year, I am buying a house and while super excited about this it means I’ve had to tighten my belt a little. One thing I like to do when I can’t travel is to plan the dream holiday you would never be able to afford. Just because you can’t travel right now doesn’t mean you won’t ever be able to so you can start planning for when you will be able to.
