Produced with the help of sponsors GenCanna and Elixinol, the event was a large gathering of people passionate over hemp from far beyond Colorado’s state boarders. It was a jam packed agenda but offered a lot of insight into the current market trends and if CO is any indication of what’s to come, Texas should stand by because of all the agricultural opportunities with Texas soil when Texas legalizes the growth of industrial hemp. Which for the record as of now you can sell and purchase CBD oil in Texas, but you can not grow industrial hemp, yet. It was like any traditional trade show, except instead of stress balls and start up t-shirts, there were caramel edibles from Restorative Botanicals, CBD protein bars from EVO Hemp, which are one of my newly favorite addictions.
So on this trip to Denver, I ended up on a sweet potato hash journey which I’ll share for you in short detail below, just in case you find yourself in Denver also craving a (Sweet potato) hash 🙂 Like this one from Jelly Cafe was the Veggie Hash, made with carrots, brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes, regular potatoes, onions but no meat. So I added chorizo 🙂 And an added bonus, the hash came with a big ole biscuit served with house-made pineapple mango jam. So when I saw that AND saw they had a sweet potato hash on the menu, it was game on!
Do you know how loud I shrieked when I heard Milk Bar was going to be in Austin doing a series of pop ups with Uber Eats? ! However, the shrieks were brought to a halt after I realized I had missed all of the pop up events that they were doing at their 6th street and Red River SXSW Uber Eats window because I was working for our CBD company, RESTART CBD, on those days. One night was Khalid and McDonalds, another was By Chloe and Billie Elish, and my night was Milk Bar and Virgil Abloh. The party was one whole series of me stuffing birthday cake truffles into my mouth (and my purse) and while I walked away with a stomach ache, it wasn’t done in vain and I left with a huge smile on my face.
One of the last SXSW 2019 events I went to, but it was at Picnik HQ so how could I pass it up? Picnik is a paleo forward brand that operates a brick and mortar restaurant here in Austin as well as 3+ shipping container coffee/breakfast outposts around town. They joined with Style Rituals to offer a wellness focused SXSW event full of crystal reading, paleo friendly bites, kombucha cocktails and mocktails, and lots of peeks into the darling office of Picnik.
