The first adventure of my 35 to 35 journey Las Vegas, Nevada is known for it’s flashing lights, loud Casinos, acrobatic shows, cold drinks, and scantily clad people. We bought tickets for the Rise Lantern Festival, which occurs every year in Jean, Nevada, just outside of Las Vegas. We were only spending about 24 hours in the city, and when we arrived we checked in to the hotel and headed out to our first destination, The Neon Museum. Many people use lantern festivals as a way to say goodbye to the year past and ring in the new year and new beginnings.

The situation in which change occurs can have profound meaning depending on our perspectives, life history, and support systems. When life changes turn out to be positive, we applaud change and revel in the fact that we have accomplished another stage of our lives. Though verbalizing anger can trigger a cathartic release, living in anger daily and practicing anger as the first emotion is exhausting and stalemates any personal growth desired. I’ve been trying so hard to make my life mirror the life I had before the pain, but that only emphasized the memories of pain.

We got to Barnstable Harbor around 6am and found our charter boat, Aquarius, waiting for us at the docks. Don’t worry I didn’t either, but it’s a technique used to catch fish. As I reeled in what would become our fresh caught dinner, I couldn’t help but think about how the guys would never let me live it down if I couldn’t get it in by myself.
