Buona festa di San Giuseppe! We just picked up our zeppole e sfinci di San Guiseppe. My grandfather always bought them for my mom since this is her name day (her name was Josephine) and when he passed away I continued the tradition. When we moved from Brooklyn to Florida, one of the first things I did was find a bakery that made them so I could continue buying them for her. And now that she’s gone it’s some thing that is important for us to do every year. ❤️ #buonafestadisangiuseppe #happysaintjosephsday #happystjosephsday #saintjoseph #stjoseph #italianpastry #italianamerican🇮🇹🇺🇸
My two boys coloring and talking about Pokémon. They didn’t know that I was recording them. 💙💙 #pokemonfan #Christmas #coloring @billyakerman
This is one of our favorite Christmas ornaments given to us my Aunt Susan + Uncle Dave. We put it up every year. It’s also my daughter, @jacquelineakermans favorite, and I had to leave it to her in my will. 😆 Loralye and Landen love it too! #asmr #christmasdecorations #merrylittlechristmas #musicbox
December 6 is Saint Nicholas’ feast day. This year we decided to join the tradition of having children leave a shoe by the door for Saint Nicholas to fill with an orange, gold coins (chocolate) and other small treats. Saint Nicolas was born to a very wealthy family and he used his inheritance to care for the poor, especially children. He gave oranges because they were a special treat and hard to come by in that area and he gave gold coins to families in need. So my children put their shoes by the door before bed, and Saint Nicholas came by and filled them with some goodies. 🎅🏻 Special thanks to Saint Nicholas’ helper, @jacquelineakerman . 🩷 #saintnicholasday #saintnicholas #feastofsaintnicholas #stnicholasday
Thanksgiving dinner second course. Turkey, ham, sockeye salmon for me, mashed potatoes, garlic string beans, stuffing, and mac & cheese. Desert was baked cinnamon apples and a delicious dessert made by one of my daughters roommates. I hope everyone enjoyed the day with her family and friends. #thanksgiving #thanksgivingdinner

In 2005 I created An Unschooling Life, a blog detailing our unschooling experience after adopting our three children. She’s interested in learning about the universe, because she’s interested in the universe, and that interest has taken her in many real world learning directions. It’s as if schools believe that if you give kids one tree at a time, year after year, they will save them up and make a forest out of them. School can simply eat up so much of their time that there’s none left for real learning, spontaneous exploration, or free play.
