Our most vulnerable have had a social safety network of doctors, nurses, teachers, child care providers, clergy, and police who provided the eyes and ears to recognize if they were being mistreated and needed help. Since 2010 we have worked to increase awareness of the effects of child abuse and neglect and to promote solutions by supporting prevention services within a wide range of communities.

Since 2010, Partners in Prevention has worked to increase awareness of the effects of child abuse and neglect while expanding opportunities to access prevention and support services within a wide range of communities in the Bay Area and beyond. We are busy planning for the new year with focus on the adult education that is so essential to achieving our mission of raising awareness and preventing abuse. In response to these requests our AWARENESS TO ACTION Speakers Series, organized in collaboration with our statewide partners, launches on April 6 at John Muir Health Hospital in Walnut Creek. It is critically important that adults and caregivers are informed to identify potential risk and the necessary actions to protect children, so they know that they are not responsible to protect themselves and never are made to feel guilty or at fault by the actions of a perpetrator.

Safety Awareness Education Safety Awareness Education for Children Now Available in 19 Languages School is in and we are happy to report that after translating our Safety Awareness Education Activity Pages and Speak Out! posters into a total of 11 languages last year, we have now added 8 additional languages to reach as many children as possible and, of critical importance, their home and family members. While our initial focus was the Greater Bay Area, we quickly became aware of additional language needs for the K-18 California Public School system, so we have included specific languages reflecting the diverse cultural mixes of other California counties: French, German, Hebrew, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Polish, and Portuguese. We have updated our website with the expanded offering of our materials so that anyone in reach of our website now has direct and easy access to these tools absolutely free.
