We stayed at the Renaissance Hotel at The Depot and it was such a fun experience because it’s been ages since I’ve stayed overnight in downtown Minneapolis. Just a block away from the river, step outside of the hotel for a walk along the Stone Arch Bridge, or stroll through the Mill Ruins Park or Gold Medal Park. Some parts of the hotel are closed currently due to a few renovations and due to COVID, but if you have the chance to explore the whole hotel, you will find a mix of modern furniture and vintage artifacts amongst the most beautiful wallpaper! It was a favorite part of mine at the hotel as I could simply whisk away to the bar, grab a cocktail, and slip away back to my room.

All that worry went away when we pulled in and met Craig, the owner, who then showed us around the property, our room, and told us a little about the place! even need to leave the property it was so peaceful! 🙂 Craig & his wife Janet, moved down from the Iron Range to tackle this property and start this adventure! While Alexandria has your fill of chain shops + restaurants, there’s also a great selection of local shops to grab a drink! Cozy Up with Hot Cider & Donuts at Country Blossom Farm Located just minutes from our B&B is Country Blossom Farm and wowza, it was greater than I expected!

Where to Shop Local in the Twin Cities for the Holidays North Shore Grand Marais Things to Do in Grand Marais, Located 2 hours from the Twin Cities right outside of the town of Crosby, these hideaway cabins are one of the best gems I’ve found around Minnesota. Take a little peak around your room and catch the cozy Pendleton Wool blanket on the bed, the beautiful drink ware from West Elm, and the warming salt lamp in the bathroom. When the fire fizzles out, head back to your cabin for a cozy night of sleep only to awake to one of the best views, straight from your bed.
