Ashley L. Voss is a gallerist and arts advocate based in San Francisco, CA. She is the owner/director of Voss Gallery, an art gallery dedicated to showcasing work by emerging and mid-career artists in both solo and thematically organized group shows with an emphasis in New Contemporary, Street Art, Outsider Art, Lowbrow, and Pop Surrealism. She serves as a member on the ArtSpan Outreach Committee and the Emerging Arts Professionals SFBA. Her writing has been published in Pelican Bomb and Art Practical.
Most recently, Ashley worked as the Gallery Manager for Art Attack SF (2017 - 2019) and Curatorial & Communications Manager for PARSE NOLA (2015 - 2017). She has held additional positions at a number of arts organizations, including Q Artists Cooperative and The Riverfront Arts Center in Stevens Point, WI and The Front, and Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans. In 2014, she curated two exhibitions for the Chippewa Valley Cultural Association/Heyde Center for the Arts in Chippewa Falls, WI. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Arts Management degree with an emphasis in Art History from the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point.

🌴Very excited to debut Justyna Kisielewicz's newest series "Some Kind of Heaven" this weekend in Miami! 🥂We're hosting an artist soiree TONIGHT, June 4th from 6-9PM in Coral Gables and are open by appointment tomorrow, June 5th—DM for more info! 🎨About the series: “Some Kind of Heaven” playfully reflects on the concept of heaven as the transcendence of human conditions. 😇Dethroning the serious, the artist presents theatrical and campily outrageous possibilities for paradise. Originally from Poland, Justyna’s formative memories are shrouded in a monochrome haze similar to the brutalist architecture associated with communist rule. As a personal escape from the visual monotony of her surroundings, the artist enjoyed creating extravagant imagery with pigments and paper. She embellished what she saw; color served as a protective barrier from the gloom of everyday life. When Justyna was six years old, a political transformation allowed some Western Influences—most notably Disney cartoons and cable television—to legally enter the country that was once controlled by the Soviet Union. These newfound freedoms and cultural curiosities influenced the artist’s ideas and trajectory of artistic style for years to come. Exotic flora and personified animals began to dominate the canvas when she moved to the US while still embracing traditional European motifs. “For me heaven was being able to draw and paint as a kid in grey Poland. I always had my head in the clouds and my imagination was running wild. Nonetheless I felt I was bound physically and I tried to look beyond where and who I was.
