I saw this young lady in Milan and there was just something so unselfconscious and elegant about how she wore her clothes, her hair and even the way she held her cigarette (even though I know cigarettes are very very bad) I took this photo and then asked to shoot her right after but once she was aware she was being photographed it wasn’t the same nonchalance. She’s maybe one of those special breed that has to be “captured” in the moment.

I think I , somehow, wandered onto the set of a movie. It wasn’t a big deal until I started taking a photo of this young lady and a very stern looking lady with a clipboard appeared and immediately started asking a bunch of questions. It’s funny how hard it is to sound like a serious professional photographer when all you can say for yourself is “

Love the stripe tie against the yellow check shirt under the textured solaro suit. Notice the way the tie is so informally (but very consciously) knotted so that the back blade of the tie is almost equal to the front blade of the tie. I also love that the tie has the slightest bit of pink that echos the red iridescence of the solaro fabric of his suit jacket. Menswear ,at its best, is about subtle sophistication and artistry of color pattern and this man has achieved near perfection in all of those elements!

This image really takes me back to when I was a stay-at-home Dad. It was such a wonderful, challenging, nerve-wracking and totally rewarding experience. Tomorrow I’ll post about something that really humbles me and is a true honor and it is a direct result of the time I spent raising and caring for my children.
