Easter in Machu Picchu… but P.S. I’m really ready to return to sea level 😮‍💨 ⛰️Here’s a list of some of the highest altitude cities in Peru to be mindful of, along with their elevation in feet and meters, from highest to lowest: • Cerro de Pasco: 14,200 feet/4,328 meters • Puno: 12,556 feet/3,827 meters • Juliaca: 12,555 feet/3,827 meters • Sicuani: 12,536 feet/3,821 meters • Cusco: 11,152 feet/3,399 meters • Huancayo: 10,692 feet/3,259 meters • Huaraz: 10,013 feet/3,052 meters • Ayacucho: 9,022 feet/2,750 meters Please note that there might be other high-altitude cities in Peru, but these are some of the notable ones. 🌾✨Living off the grid on Floating Islands #UrosCulture #LakeTiticaca Arriving at 5 AM this morning, after a series of adventures exploring the Wonders of World Machu Picchu/Cusco, my next stop, I was eager to discover the unique culture and lifestyle of the indigenous people inhabiting these remarkable islands. The Uros Floating Islands, located on Lake Titicaca, boast a history that dates back centuries. The Uros people, seeking refuge from various threats by the Spanish, constructed these islands using totora reeds, a type of bulrush that grows abundantly in the shallows of the lake. Layer upon layer of these reeds were woven together to create stable platforms, upon which their homes and community structures were built. What fascinated me most as a travel blogger was the ingenuity and resilience of the Uros community in maintaining their traditional way of life while adapting to the modern world. Despite their remote location and lack of access to conventional resources, the Uros people have managed to thrive by living off the grid. Their self-sustaining lifestyle is truly remarkable. They rely on fishing, bird hunting, and harvesting the totora reeds for sustenance and building materials. Solar panels provide them with electricity, while rainwater collection systems meet their freshwater needs. Their harmonious relationship with nature not only preserves their cultural heritage but also ensures their survival in this challenging environment. Exploring the Uros Floating Islands felt like stepping into a living museum. The vibrant colors of the woven reeds, the intricate designs of their homes, and the warm hospitality of the people left an indelible impression on me. I had the privilege of interacting with the locals and learning about their customs. Definitely a place worth visiting in Peru. Turquoise-tinted views. Nature’s palette never fails to inspire! ✨

📍Huaraz, Peru, is a destination right in the heart of the Andes Mountains. And, I have to be honest - there’s no charm or appeal to the town itself, not much to do in the town part, and finding a handful of great resturants is scares. But it’s the breathtaking landscapes that attract travelers from around the globe. Here are some reasons why travelers flock to Huaraz: 🥾 Hiking and Trekking: Huaraz is renowned for its unparalleled hiking and trekking opportunities. Huascarán National Park boasts some of the most iconic peaks in the Andes, including Huascarán, the highest mountain in Peru. Adventurers can embark on multi-day treks such as the Santa Cruz Trek, Huayhuash Circuit, or the challenging ascent of Huascarán itself. These treks offer awe-inspiring vistas of snow-capped peaks, glacial lakes, and verdant valleys, providing a true wilderness experience. 🏞 Laguna 69 and Other Scenic Lakes: Within easy reach of Huaraz lies #Laguna69, one of the region’s most famous and picturesque lakes. Its vibrant turquoise waters, set against the backdrop of towering mountains, make it a must-visit destination for travelers. Additionally, the region is dotted with numerous other stunning lakes like Llanganuco, Parón, and Churup, each offering its own unique charm and opportunities for hiking and photography. 😍 Breathtaking Scenery: Whether it’s the dramatic peaks of the Cordillera Blanca or the pastoral beauty of the Cordillera Negra, Huaraz offers some of the most breathtaking scenery in Peru. Travelers can simply soak in the stunning views or embark on scenic drives through winding mountain roads, stopping at viewpoints to capture memorable photographs. 🙌🏾 Acclimatization for High Altitude Treks: Many travelers use Huaraz as a base for acclimatizing to the high altitude before embarking on more challenging treks in the Andes. The city itself sits at an elevation of around 3,050 meters (10,000 feet), providing an ideal starting point for altitude adjustment. Follow for more of my content in South America - @djutravels

Where’s Waldo?! Well, I’m Waldo now because I always get asked, ‘Where are you?’ 😭

Happy Weekend ☀️ from the sleepy beach town of Mancora, Peru 🇵🇪 located in north Peru, making it a good stopover in between you Lima and/or Ecuador adventures or for surfers a great days worth of oceans waves. Since there’s not too much to do in town, you’re going to want to choose a beachy place where you won’t mind spending a lot of time, clean, the hotel’s not outdated, and pricey. Trust me from my experience because third pick was a charm. 📍 @selinaperu_, Mancora To see more of my Peru/South America content follow for more — @djutravels

Let me begin by stating that content creation isn’t my primary occupation, nor is it the ultimate goal. Now, this might stir up some debate, but I prioritize being a traveler over being a travel content creator. What I mean is, I won’t compromise my travel experiences solely for the sake of capturing better content. For instance, I won’t rise at the crack of dawn just to snap photos at a location before other tourists arrive. Moreover, I believe that doing so and then portraying the place as if it’s always empty can be misleading and set unrealistic expectations for others. Part of the essence of traveling is acknowledging that some places will inevitably be crowded with tourists. Despite not always obtaining outstanding content, I still relish the experience of visiting these destinations, which is ultimately what matters most to me.
