Here are a few things I’ve learned about love throughout my life. You can’t expect anything from you significant other, they think differently and will never do exactly what you want Time really does heal, and open your eyes as to why you went through what you did. Communicate – that means stop and listen even when you don’t want to. Love is crazy, strong, intense, and such an incredible feeling.

I never expected to fall in love with a man in uniform, I always said the opposite, I would never date anyone in uniform I didn’t want to constantly worry about the person I love. When I am with him I feel safe and like everything will work out. That one hour turned into us talking all night long and spending the whole first weekend together.

This all sounds so cliché but looking back on all of your best memories, were they made when you were being “safe” or when you did something that made you feel wild. This year alone I have been living for myself, I enrolled in a school program to secure myself financially, going on spontaneous trips across California, and spending time with my friends. I invest time and energy into people that I love and want in my life. Recognize and acknowledge the tough times, just don’t let them take over your life.
