Have you guys seen the Chinese drama Meteor Garden? 🤩 If so, you might know what this pineapple boat is all about! 😜 For a little background, there’s a cooking competition in the middle of the show, and the main character creates her version of a Shanghai classic dish, 八宝辣酱面 (or 8 treasure spicy noodles in English) by adding 🍍. Our recipe is inspired by the version made in the show, and as such, features pineapples as one of the 8 "treasures"! While it may seem like a weird flavor pairing at first, it works surprisingly well! It adds a bit of natural sweetness as well as brightens up the dish with both its color and flavor. Even if you aren't a noodle-lover, this dish will swoop in and win your heart. P.S. If you haven't seen Meteor Garden, we recommend checking it out! It's quite a rollercoaster of a show, but definitely very entertaining! 🤣 For the recipe, click link in bio! . . . #theminichef #homecooking #homecook #minimalistcooking #cooking #recipes #cook #homecooking #homemade #food #chefsofinstagram #foodblogger #foodstagram #foodie #foodporn #yummy #yum #yummyfood #yummyinmytummy #foodphotography #foodpic #foodlover #meteorgarden #noodlesoup #asianfood #chinesefood #chinesenoodles #noodles #instayum #foodshare #boatnoodle
This is different from traditional 8 treasure spicy noodles because it uses pineapple one of the main ingredients (as was done on the show), which adds a fresh and vibrant flavor to this savory dish. Add the carrots, five-spice dried tofu, edamame, and sugar and cook for 3 minutesAdd the blanched pork, chicken stock, and laoganma spicy chili crisp and bring to a boil. To cook the shrimp, add 3 cups of water, garlic, and ginger to a small pot and bring to a boil. Add the shrimp and cook for 1-2 minutes, until the shrimp turn opaque and pink (be careful not to overcook them)To serve, place the noodles in a bowl and scoop the sauce on top.

Merry Christmas, everyone! 🎄🎁 We wish you a happy jolly holidays filled with love, laughter, and good food 🥰 We made gingerbread cookies, but these are not your typical ones. We added orange 🍊 zest and juice to bring some hints of bright citrus flavor. With these spice-y and warm cookies, I’m really thankful for all the good things this year and looking forward to 2021 ☺️ Cheers! 🥂 For the full recipe, click on link in bio . . . #theminichef #homecook #minimalistcooking #cooking #recipes #foodblogger #foodstagram #foodie #baking #homebaking #bakingfromscratch #bakersofinstagram #bakinglove #dessert #dessertporn #dessertlover #desserttime #easyrecipes #cookies #christmas #christmasfood #holidays #gingerbread #gingerbreadcookies #christmascookies #christmas2020
For these orange gingerbread cookies, I added a slight twist to the classic gingerbread cookie by adding orange zest in the cookie and orange juice in the icing. The orange zest in the cookie itself and the orange juice in the icing add just a hint of vibrant and bright flavors to this otherwise warm cookie. Add egg and vanilla and beat until combinedSlowly add the dry ingredients while beating on low speed (add about 1/4 cup at a time). If the dough is too sticky, add 1 tablespoon of flour at a time and beat until the dough stops stickingDivide the dough in half.
We all have fond memories of eating spaghetti and meatballs🍝 Packed with classic Italian ingredients, these light, fluffy, and moist meatballs bring the authentic Italian taste straight to your kitchen. (A general tip to develop an even more amazing flavor is to sear them before braising them in the sauce!) And let’s talk about the light and bright homemade marinara sauce. This sauce, while quick and easy, truly delivers and makes the meatballs shine. What’s best is that this sauce can be made in just 30 min! 😀 If you’re looking to meal prep for the weekdays, make sure to try this! The sauce and meatballs can be made separately and stored, which makes prepping a whole lot easier. (The sauce can be refrigerated for 5 days, and the meatballs can be stored frozen for up to a month.) They’re made with a simple ground beef and ground pork mixture and paired with a bright homemade marinara sauce, and it has become one of my go-to weeknight dinners! In this recipe, I chose to use just ground beef and ground pork as I found that I could get enough flavor without using sausage, and it may be more difficult for some people to find Italian sausage in their local grocery store. (this gives the panko time to fully soak up the milk)Using your hands, work gently to combine the ground beef, ground pork, minced onions, and minced garlic together in a large mixing bowl. Make sure that everything is evenly mixed, but don’t overwork the meatAdd the panko mixture, Parmigiano-Reggiano, parsley, egg, salt, and pepper and gently mix together with a forkWith your hands, shape the mixture into balls, about 1 or 2 inches in diameter depending on your preference (smaller ones will be better if eating with spaghetti).
Welcome to Garlic Love 🧄❤️ These roasted garlic fingerling potatoes are the best homemade potatoes we've ever had 🤤 And let me tell you why: These potatoes are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and full of garlic flavor (love garlic, duh!). To really make the garlic flavor shine, these potatoes are cooked with roasted garlic butter, garlic infused olive oil, and minced garlic. There’s no such thing as “too much” garlic, right? 🤣 If you've ever lamented not being able to eat fries at home due to the lack of a deep fryer, these roasted fingerling potatoes are here to save the day! They're healthier, classier, and taste better than fries. WIN WIN WIN! 🙃 For the full recipe, click on the link in bio! . . . #theminichef #homecooking #homecook #minimalistcooking #cooking #recipes #homecooking #homemade #food #foodblogger #foodstagram #foodie #foodporn #yummy #yum #yummyfood #yummyinmytummy #foodpics #mealideas #dinnerideas #fries #potatofries #potato #garlicfries #soulfood #roastedveggies #garlicbutter #fingerlingpotatoes #garlicpotatoes #sides
While potatoes taste great by themselves, my goal was to infuse these roasted fingerling potatoes with garlic flavor (I love garlic). So, for these roasted garlic fingerling potatoes, I add garlic flavor in 3 ways: roasted garlic butter, garlic-infused olive oil, and minced garlic. The roasted garlic in the butter and olive oil provide a lighter and sweeter garlic flavor, while the minced garlic (which ends up crispy after roasting with the potatoes) adds a more traditional garlic flavor. The best part is that you can use the leftover roasted garlic butter and olive oil to keep making more of these roasted fingerling potatoes!
Hope you all had a wonderful (and safe) Thanksgiving holiday! Growing up, whenever my family would go to a Chinese restaurant, I would order chicken chow mein. Needless to say, my parents weren't exactly happy since chow mein is one of the simplest dishes and there are so many other amazing Chinese food. Since then, I've grown to love all kinds of Chinese dishes, but chow mein remains one of my favorite. This chow mein recipe is really quick and easy, only taking 30 minutes, but tastes as good as any I've had from a Chinese restaurant. The bell peppers and onions add natural sweetness and crunchiness, while the soy sauce-based sauce adds umami and slightly sweet flavors. I love this dish so much and am sharing this recipe with all of you! <reposting due to some technical difficulties> Welcome to our third installment of bourbon flavored desserts! This time around I made maple bourbon frosted cinnamon rolls 🤤 I originally intended to bake them in a 9in cake pan, but Kevin convinced me to use a cast iron pan instead (bc he is a BIG fan of cast iron 😂). This actually was a brilliant idea! This way produced a perfectly brown crispy exterior with a light and fluffy interior! 😍 To die for, no? I thought bread pudding would be just a smooth pudding until recently when Kevin introduced me to this bourbon bread pudding, topped with bourbon candied pecans. It actually tastes nothing like jelly pudding, but more like french toast..? 😂 With the temperature dropping, this is the perfect dessert for those cold fall and winter nights. 🥶🧣The warm flavors of bourbon complement the cinnamon and vanilla, and this will bring you warmth, comfort, and home. ☺️ Believe it or not, bread pudding is so easy and requires very little baking skills. It’s also a great way to use leftover bread, since the staler the bread, the better (we even toast the bread in the oven to dry it out more). It took me less than 5 min to prep with a day old bread that I wanted to get rid of 😅 For the full recipe, click on link in bio! 🔹 INGREDIENTS • 2 slices brioche bread (1-inch thick and cubed into 1-inch cubes; test if you have enough by placing them in the ramekins, they should be completely filled) • 1 egg • 10 tbsp milk • 1/2 cup heavy cream • 1 1/2 tbsp bourbon • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract • 3 tbsp brown sugar • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon • 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg • 1/8 tsp salt • Butter (for greasing ramekins) • Bourbon candied pecans (for topping) . . . #theminichef #homecooking #homecook #minimalistcooking #cooking #recipes #foodblogger #foodstagram #foodie #baking #homebaking #bakingfromscratch #bakersofinstagram #bakinglove #dessert #dessertporn #dessertlover #desserttime #easyrecipes #breadpudding #bourbon #winter #winterfood #homey #comfortfood #decadent
Do you ever just wake up seriously craving something or is it just me? 😂 A few weeks ago, I woke up on a Sunday just massively craving some fudgy brownies. Since then, I’ve been heads down at producing the fudgiest brownies with brown butter. Honestly, brown butter makes everything so much better! 💁🏻♀️ And if you haven’t had brown butter baked goods, this is your chance. My goal was to get a crinkle top brownie. With brown butter though, it wasn’t the easiest, but I figured out some tips to get it right. Check out the post link in bio for the recipe and tips for perfect crinkle top fudgy brownies! 🤤 . . 🔹 INGREDIENTS • 1 1/2 cup chocolate chips (336g) (1 cup for melting, 1/2 cup for addition at the end) • 2 teaspoon instant coffee (or instant espresso) • 1 cup butter (224g) • 3 eggs, at room temperature • 1 cup sugar (192g) • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract • 1/2 teaspoon salt • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (60g) • 1/2 cup Dutch-processed cocoa powder (40g) • Sea salt flakes . . . #theminichef #homecooking #homecook #minimalistcooking #cooking #recipes #foodblogger #foodstagram #foodie #baking #homebaking #bakingfromscratch #bakersofinstagram #bakinglove #dessert #dessertporn #dessertlover #desserttime #easyrecipes #chocolate #chocolatedesserts #brownies #decadent #brownbutter
These past few days, all we've eaten are green beans. Why, you ask? Because we found an amazing way to cook green beans that makes them incredibly flavorful. The best part is that it doesn't require any additional ingredients, only a couple changes in technique. First, adding salt during the boiling step allows the flavor to penetrate through the skin. Second, instead of adding soy sauce to the center of the pot and mixing immediately, adding it to the side of the wok first and letting it sizzle a bit before mixing will impart a smoky wok hei flavor. A bonus, it'll make your house smell like an authentic Chinese restaurant. 😍 🥡 The entire recipe takes less than 15 minutes to make, so it's been perfect for weeknight dinners! . . Link in bio for the full recipe! . . 🔹 INGREDIENTS • 3/4lb green beans (ends removed) • 3 cloves garlic (sliced) • 2 tablespoons oil • 1/4 cup water • 1/2 teaspoon salt • 2 tablespoons soy sauce . . . #theminichef #homecooking #homecook #minimalistcooking #cooking #recipes #homecooking #homemade #food #foodblogger #foodstagram #foodie #foodporn #yummy #yum #yummyfood #yummyinmytummy #foodpics #mealideas #dinnerideas #healthy #chinesefood #greenbeans #asianfood #soysauce #stirfry #vegetables
Halfway through October, can you believe it? It’s about time to bring back warm soups and stews back in our lives. One of my favorite Korean stews is Sundubu jjigae, or soft tofu stew. This time, we added pork and kimchi, which makes it taste kinda like kimchi jjigae, but with such complex flavors! Layering with lightly caramelized onions, kimchi, and pork one at a time, you will experience amazing depth in this stew. Give this a try! For the full recipe, click on link in bio! 🔹 INGREDIENTS • 11 ounces extra soft tofu (you can find it in any Korean supermarket; it comes in a tube) • 4 ounces pork (any cut of pork will do; Korean supermarkets usually have “pork for stew”) • 1/4 onion (white or sweet) • 1 tablespoon oil • 2 teaspoons gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes; adjust to your preferred spice level) • 2 cloves garlic (minced) • 1/3 cup kimchi (about 10 pieces) • 2 teaspoons sesame oil • 1 cup chicken stock (can use water instead) • 3 tablespoons kimchi brine • Salt (to taste) • 1 egg • 1 scallion (chopped) . . . #theminichef #homecooking #homecook #minimalistcooking #cooking #recipes #homecooking #homemade #food #foodblogger #foodstagram #foodie #foodporn #yummy #yum #yummyfood #yummyinmytummy #foodpics #mealideas #dinnerideas #koreanfood #korean #asianfood #kimchi #stew #jjigae #sundubujjigae #soondubujjigae
