I’m Tasha. I’m the face behind Hello Freckles, an award-winning lifestyle and travel blog hailing from the North East of England.
Travelling is something I’m passionate about. I’m always keen to visit new places, to experience the culture and to try the local cuisine. It’s immersive, it stays with you and I’m keen to make the most of my annual leave allowance. That’s right, I blog alongside working full time in a communications role.
I have a keen eye for photography, enjoy creating vlogs and short videos for my trips and have been complimented on my writing style, which is nice! When you don't find me booking flights or researching my next trip, I can be found sipping a cappuccino or lacing up my trainers ready for a run.

This time, we visited Cologne to see in the new year and experience what the 2,000 year old city had to offer. It would be quite easy to spend a few days in Cologne by flying to Dusseldorf and getting the train down, if for instance you’re looking from Newcastle Airport. it’s well worth a walk across to see the city from the other side of the Rhine, particularly if you’re visiting KolnTriangle. If you’re visiting the city on a weekend break, it’s well worth packing your trainers and your barcode and getting a 5K in before breakfast.
I headed along to Horticulture for a preview meal this week, sampling some of the dishes in their NE1 Restaurant Week £15 offer. It’ll incur a £2 supplement but if you want something as a snack to nibble whilst you’re ordering drinks I would definitely recommend. you’ll want to get along and sample their 2 dishes for £10 offer which includes Turkish Eggs, Eggs Benedict and Shloumi ( the latter with a small supplement) You can have 3 dishes for £10 or 5 for £15 and I’d probably recommend sharing 5, having a slower meal and enjoying a tipple or two.
if you’re planning a summer trip just swap all mentions of winter to summer as this destination is perfect for both as Lanzarote gets on average about 15 days of rain a year. It’s one of the quieter Canary Islands with a population of just under 150,000 and yes, tourism might hike up in the summer, but if you time your winter sun trip right you’ll possibly be able to get the beach to yourself for a moment. There’s something for everyone, whether you choose to go paragliding, or you want to visit a cave formed by a volcanic lava tube over 3,000 years ago (would recommend a visit to Cueva de los Verdes) or enjoy relaxing by the pool/sea. Here’s another 3 that you can’t miss on your trip to Lanzarote: Jardin de Cactus, Guatiza is a must visit if you’re fond of a succulent.
