For the purposes of building this shelf, I needed three separate pieces of crown molding, a piece long enough to span the length of my shelving boards, and two pieces that are called return stops. To cut a left outside corner, I placed the crown molding upside down onto the Kreg Crown Pro and positioned it on the right side of the saw blade. (To cut a right outside corner, just mirror the set up) One of the return stops can be seen on the left and has a left outside corner cut. The piece on the right is the molding that spans the length of the shelf and has a right outside corner cut.

Of course we can make things on our own but that wouldn’t be very thrifty of us, instead I’ve decided to makeover a few thrift store pieces. Which fits in perfectly with this months Thrifty Decor Team Challenge (Don’t forget to check the projects out at the end of the post.) The best part about a up-cycling furniture is that you can make a big impact with a simple thrift store shelf makeover. The shelf is not only light weight but the perfect dimensions for a corner of our space.

The paint serves double duty it acts as a primer for the other paint colors and also helps seal the cut edges of the wood reducing any char odor that might remain. My wood bunny sign was painted at least 4 times until I got the colors that I thought would work best for this sweet girl. Make sure to glue your wood bunny pieces securely to your sign.
