Have Wheelchair Will Travel

We certainly are not the first family with a disabled child to travel to America but at times it felt that way. Why not share all my research and great discoveries with others who are either, planning a trip, or are feeling nervous about giving it a go. It also made sure that we made the most of our time and that we didn’t spend valuable time on holiday working things out. There’s a lot of information here and the best way to use this website is to browse the Categories in the menu to the right.

ALL ABILITIES PLAY CENTRE SYDNEY

There are telling touches throughout The Shine Shed that let those visiting know the centre has been designed by someone who truly understands the needs of children, parents and adults with a disability. What happens at The Shine Shed stays at The Shine Shed but there’s a rumour one parent may have even nodded off while their children were playing! so it’s good to see the cafe at The Shine Shed serves drinks and there’s even ice creams for those hot days. The Shine Shed can be booked for private events, groups, adults and children’s parties.

LAUNCH OF DISABILITY SPECIFIC TRAVEL MAGAZINE

We’ve just co-founded a disability specific magazine, Travel Without Limits. I believe accessible travel deserves space to provide detailed and specific information which will help people achieve their travel dreams. Why not have a travel magazine which is tailored to sharing accessible information for the varied needs and challenges faced by people travelling with a disability. The first issue of Travel Without Limits will be available at the Source Kids Disability Expo in Melbourne 29/30 March, at the South West Disability Expo in Liverpool (Whitlam Leisure Centre)

ACCESSIBLE PLAYGROUND PARRAMATTA

The City of Parramatta’s first all-inclusive playground and water play park opened at Ollie Webb Reserve a few weeks ago, so we popped along to take a look. BJ is past playgrounds now, but after so many years of not being able to access activities in parks, I can’t resist taking a look at a new inclusive playground. For those needing to stay in their wheelchair, this is the only way to access a sandpit and this design means they can play side-by-side with their peers. As I was restricted in the photos I could take with the many kids on the equipment, I thought I’d share the Parramatta Council video of the opening.
