What an amazing evening at the new Le Petit Beefbar in Edinburgh, Scotland. I wasn't actually familiar with Beefbars before I was invited to this one, nor was I prepared for how incredible the meat was! We tried 6 starters, 4 main courses, 4 sides, and 2 desserts, all shared across the table. Everything was exceptional. My recommendation is to go in a group and share the portions. They are big, especially the desserts! Mi Amor turned 38 last night. In celebration, we flew out to Ghent, Belgium (which she didn't know about) and ate at one of my favorite restaurants, a place created by fellow travelers. This was the first of seven distilleries on the Isle of Islay we visited for Fèis Ìle 2023. I was happy to get more reality on Ardbeg, as the Whiski Rooms (which I use on my food tour) is an Ardbeg Embassy. There are plenty of companies offering a day-tour of Chiang Rai from Chiang Mai, but I wouldn’t recommend those as you’ll You can either visit Mae Sai as an excursion from Chiang Rai, or you can go direct from Chiang Mai, but you’ll have to pass through Chiang Rai either way. If you’re looking for a shorter day-trip from Chiang Mai, my top pick is the San Kamphaeng Hot Springs (which are actually in Mae On District, not Sankamphaeng District). If you want to spend longer at the hot springs, you can soak in the mineral pool – a swimming pool which they pump the mineral water from the hot springs into.
