My mom has lived in NJ just over the water from Manhattan for maybe 10 years now. Although I’ve made friends here during the time I’ve visited. often I’ve spent months in end here in between moving countries (recharging and saving money haha). But most of my exploring in NYC has been solo. Getting to show my new family around this city I love so much has been magical. Especially at this time of the year with all the Christmas lights. I’m even surviving in the cold! We have been leaving the stroller home when we go into the city as it’s too much stress on the bus and subway. Feeling grateful this morning on the little man’s 10 month birthday 🎂 When I found out I was pregnant I did NOT take it well. I had no idea how I would cope living the life I’d been living and continuing to be a full time travel blogger with a baby. Well I’m pleased to say my life didn’t end when he arrived. We finally made it to New York 🗽 with Charlie 👶🏼 and Coco 🐶 We were a little bit worried that it was going to be a lot of hassle trying to do anything in the city with a baby, let alone with a dog!! But in fact we were really surprised at how dog friendly NYC is! We took her on the bus from NJ and then on the subway no problem. We just had to put her in her little backpack. As for Charlie, we’ll he was super snug in his @ergobaby carrier so we didn’t have to deal with the pushchair 😅 AND we managed to pack everything we needed for our day out in our brand new @boetri diaper bag which I’m OBSESSED with. I’ll be doing a full video on it soon. Now I know for the actual traveling on an airplane you are going to want an N-95 Mask but for everyday use I prefer something a bit more stylish and that I can washout daily. After months of throwing my facemask into my bag, putting it in my pocket, or having to place it down on unsanitized surfaces I finally gave in and bought a facemask chain. It’s made from vegan leather and after having it clipped to my bag for the past 6 months it still looks as good as the day I bought it! If the idea of flying freaks you out to the point that your planning on traveling in a hazmat suit anyway (don’t laugh, I’ve seen it with my own eyes) then why not go the whole hog and buy some disposable airplane seat and tray covers?
When you are traveling by yourself, you could find yourself out of your comfort zone, or you may believe that you shouldn’t have got into this in the first place. Because it’s not always easy to relax when we are traveling by ourselves, we’ve got to find little pockets of emotional and mental respite. There are always opportunities to work out while traveling but also understand when you need to have a break from alcohol or food that your body doesn’t always agree with. Going on vacation is great for our well-being, but we have to remember there will be times when we feel out of our depth, and this is why following these three approaches can give us a holistic approach to keeping our happiness in check.
