This is Part 3 of a 3 part series, all focused on a theme that is so close to my heart: getting out of your own way, re-training your brain, designing your life the way you want to, and why creating better relationships to everything (yourself, other people, and even food) is the best way to start. But when I was IN it, it was hard to fully see that, and fully see all the spaces and places and crevices of my life that a shaky relationship to food was sneaking in and affecting so many things: my ability to give to others And my story isn’t even an extreme example of what so many women (and men, too) get caught up in, in various seasons of their lives. So, today, even if there is just a TINY amount that can you pull some wisdom from and relate to, I wanted to talk more about what it took to have an actual shift into a kinder, more sustainable way of living and being healthy, and the process behind it: To get out of the stressful, rigid and antiquated diet & fitness mentality, and more into a life bursting with health, energy, love, grace, and way more joy. The Simply Real Life Program is my 6 week group program to get healthier, take back your headspace, change your relationship to food, and live a more joyful, vibrant life.
On Creating A Healthier Relationship to Food (And Myself): (Part 2) This is Part 2 of a 3 part series on having a better relationship to food. Diets don’t work because they encourage people to TUNE OUT and blindly follow a set of rules, vs the thing that truly helps you be healthier & happier longterm: eating real food, and learning the harder task of how to actually TUNE IN to your own body, and figure out what’s best for you. eat on smaller plates (but never red ones) if you’re going to have treats, make sure they are vegan and healthy as long as it’s fat-free or non-fat, it’s healthy as long as it’s low sugar or sugar-free, it’s healthy never drink wine or cocktails (too many calories) snack all the time And yes, it requires wanting to change and grow and learn how to do your food life better (learning to eat like a real grown woman or man, versus having a teenager mentality with food–you know, just doing whatever everyone else is, piecing together random bits of advice, and not knowing how to tune in to the wisdom all our bodies have, etc).
Food is great, and knowing about the definition of REAL FOOD vs “health food” and diet food is important. And the further I got in my food knowledge, the more doubtful and skeptical I’d start to feel about ever being able to just NAIL IT with food and never have to think about it again. It’s time to start being more honest with some of the things that your relationship with food, leads you to do, or fixate on, in all the other areas of your life.
