What happens in Puerto Rico...

We wanted to plan a trip to celebrate these 10 wonderful years together, and we chose the sunny island of Puerto Rico before we even knew WHAT AN AWFUL WINTER it would be in the Midwest. The first full day that we were in Puerto Rico, we went on a snorkeling excursion with East Island Excursions. After sharing that we went to Puerto Rico on Instagram, I got a lot of questions about how the island has recovered since Hurricaine Maria. The people of Puerto Rico were SO KIND and went out of their way to make our stay fun and memorable.

Cleaning Closet Organization

So when I was chatting with my friends at National Hardware about the Marie Kondo craze and all things organization, I was inspired to give my hectic cleaning/utility closet a makeover using some of their hook systems! This little room is called ‘The Dinette’ on the original blueprints of the house… which makes zero sense because it’s not big enough to dine in by any means. It’s that gross room where you throw things you don’t know where they should go, and put the litter box so you don’t have to look at it, etc. The reason for this is that you need your pegboard to be set away from the wall a good 1/2″ or more so that your hooks can go in and out easily without hitting the wall behind the pegboard.

Little Girls' Room Reveal

Since the girls all agreed that they wanted a ‘rainbow room’, I set out to design a room that was tastefully colorful without having painted stripes of ROYGBIV on the walls. I started by finding this fabulous rug that checks off both boxes of ‘colorful’ AND ‘chic’. We also shared a few things that we wanted them to incorporate, like the triple bunk, the orange chair, this shelf, our wooden rainbow art, and the SW Meander Blue wall color. If you’re relatively new to our little corner of the internet, I’ll tell you that this chair has soooo much sentimental value to us!

4-Year-Old Gift Guide

Check out our gift guides for 3 year olds, 2 year olds, and 1 year olds! to give you some gift ideas for YOUR 4-year-old! *Disclaimer: I’m not opposed to dress-up clothes, baby dolls, and all things girly, but I love toys that double as learning tools and things that promote creativity for this age. And this little remote control car is simple enough for a 3-4 year old to maneuver it around the room with ease! I need to buckle down and teach my 7-year-olds how to tell time (hangs head in shame), so this sorting clock would come in handy for that, as well as a fun sorting toy for the 4-year-old (and maybe she’ll learn to tell time before she’s 7).
