Truth be told… I’ve had a hell of a time finding good pizza in Southwest Florida. Either the pizza dough is horrendous, there’s barely any sauce, the crust is absolutely flaccid, it’s not cooked enough, or they skimp on cheese. I recently had Tony Sacco’s (@saccosestero) Coal Oven Pizza, based on recommendations, and it wasn’t bad for a chain. The ingredients were good, flavors were solid, but damn it, why are all of these pizzas so freakin floppy! I had several pizzas, and they all were the same. As soon as you picked a slice up from the box, it would flop down and all of the toppings would fall off. These pizzas tasted better than most I’ve had while in SWFL, but I couldn’t get past the fact that I had to eat all of the toppings off of my plate with a fork. If anyone has a surefire spot for NY/NJ/PHILLY style pizza in Southwest Florida, PLEASE leave it in the comments or DM me. *FLASHBACK* THE BEST ASIAN DISH I’VE HAD IN YEARS. This Tan Tan Ramen from Rai rai ramen in Downtown West Chester, PA is a culinary gift from the gods. Sweet, very spicy, but not overly where you can’t taste it. The sesame was a unique flavor. Ground pork, egg, red hot sauce. My face was on fire, my Pops was in tears... but it was hands down the best thing I’ve eaten this year, and possibly in the top 5 ever in Asian food. I couldn’t order it any other way. Pops asked to “not be shy with the spice,” and the chef could have killed us and the dish with too much spice. I can’t stress enough that this was a perfectly balanced dish. Slightly sweet, tangy, tear inducing spice, perfectly cooked noodles, crispy bean sprouts.. If you haven’t made a trip... I don’t care if you’re 100 miles away..
