NYC girls trip bucket list wouldn’t be complete without visiting the pinkest bar in NY! 📍 @apinkwonderland This was an IG vs Reality moment that none of us were sure of because sometimes things look better on social media than real life. But this spot was a vibeeee! We had plans to do something else after this but the DJ, the people, the pink, it all kept us here for the night. I love a pink Christmas so this was perfect! I read a post that said “The idea that this has to be the most wonderful time of the year” was clearly thought up by someone who was NOT going through a divorce or missing their kids on Christmas.” I’m my early days of being a single mom, after sending my little girl on the plane to Texas for the entire Christmas break, I used to stay in bed the majority of the time and just cry all day on Christmas. It was the time of year that made me feel so unlucky to be a single mom. It was a feeling of being alone, ashamed, and just so sad. Fast forward to now and I’ve changed my perspective. I’ve been a single mom almost 20 years so it didn’t happen overnight! I’ve learned to make the most of the time I have over the holidays with my kids, invite friends and family to help keep me busy when I don’t feel like being alone, and just knowing “this too shall pass.” We had 2 weeks together this holiday, and here are some things we did together: 1. Selfie at dinner 2. Anaya surprising Lee coming home from college 3. Lees birthday at our favorite Hibachi spot (pictured with my brother) 4. A reminder 🤍 5. 📍 @luminocityfestival in Gaithersburg, MD - make sure to go it’s so cool! 6. Learning what Anayas putting on her vision board for ‘24. She is an avid vision boarder! She doesn’t miss a year lol 7. 📍Shopping @uniquemarkets @unionmarketdc - what a wonderful place to shop for unique gifts! Save this for next year 8. Taking family pics, a few days before Christmas. We did them super late, but we got them done 🥰📸 @praya1 always makes it happen for us! 9. Finally decorating our family tree after going through so many lights that didn’t work and putting it off until the last minute because we stayed so busy. 10. Having Christmas together a week before the actual Christmas Day. Christmas can be any day for single parents, it doesn’t have to just be when everyone else does it. 🥰🤍 Whether this was your first single parent Christmas or one of many, I hope you took time to create your own traditions, made lots of memories, found many reasons to smile, and made it a wonderful time of year. 📌Share this post with anyone who might need some encouragement this year. 🤍✨🫶🏾

As seen in Home Alone and so many more movies, The Plaza has always been a place of amazement as it sits overlooking Central Park. I had the best time @fashionctrpc celebrating #holidaysatsimon ! The annual Tinsel and Tidings event was a blast and prepared me to be ready, set, and shop! December at @riolakefront is just fabulously festive! I climbed trees and bookshelves like a monkey in the jungle, danced until I was dizzy from twirling, grabbed on to any other child to make friends, and just loved people (I obviously still do). I would endure reactions to blood sugar fluctuations, seizures, multiple blood tests and insulin shots daily, dozens of ophthalmic surgeries and procedures which eventually left me with low vision, and more. When I first learned of the news, I thought I was going to pass out from the lack of oxygen going to my brain (& heart), then collapsed in my office chair to cry. I just want them to know their/his decision to donate life keeps giving, and giving, and giving.
My mom is the reason I fell in love with “Love Day” in the first place; she’d get me little treats and write cute letters and surprise me with gifts left on my bed that I’d find after coming home from school. I’d recreate this day, trying to bring back the feelings of unconditional love for many years after that. Even though I’m pushing myself to try new things and not focus on the negative in this season, I wasn’t clear on what Galentine’s day meant or what it involved. It was also an honor for the Thompson Hotel to host us for this event, which made an even greater impression on my first Galentine’s Day because this was a staycation I didn’t realize I needed!
But what if you just wait a while, sit back, evaluate, take it all in and give yourself time to form your own genuine opinion without the outside noise, and not on the outside time. I wanted to do a post on “Happy New Year! So I’m posting at the end of the first month of the year of hope, the year of change, the year of a new Administration, and the year of hopefully going the hell back outside! I have a teen girl and a toddler boy, and shopping for them for Christmas is on the opposite ends of the spectrum so I created a few lists to cover all of your under 18 year-old needs. My three year old son and niece are two peas in a pod, and they primarily like similar things. but year-round, as tots are always in need of something to keep them occupied, if you know what I mean.
