Out here looking like someone's future bride 😜 . . This is the outfit I wore for my dad's Ime Uche retirement ceremony, which is a huge ceremony relieving the person from doing community service in their village and celebrates them for all of their contributions. Check out my previous post for a mini vlog and footage of the entire ceremony. 😊 . On another note, speaking of brides... So many people are focused on marriage here in Nigeria. I'm constantly reminded that I'm past "marrying age" and I need to find a husband. In fact, my family said the next time I come to Nigeria better be for my traditional wedding 😂 In church the pastor even prayed for the single ladies of the church to find husbands and they even put the same prayer request in the church bulletin! The pressure to marry is intense and I'm getting tired of answering the same question about where my husband is 😅. Anybody else feel my pain?? 2021...A year of highs and lows but most importantly the reinforcement of where hard work and persistence in the midst of hard times can get you. . . I landed my first 4-figure content creation deal, I caught COVID and overcame it, I got some amazing opportunities with work and expanded my network, and so much more. . As I'm here posting this from Nigeria, I'm reminded of how fortunate I am to be alive and well, and spending the holiday season with my family abroad. Last night I had the honor of joining @onesalonemonet in celebrating the launch of @salonemonet at Bloomingdales! If you haven't heard of her brand, Salone Monet, you need to check it out. It's a luxury shoe brand that has heels for all different skintones. This is something that's super important to me because I remember modeling in runway shows, and they'd ask the models to bring a nude shoe, to which I'd always have to clarify if they meant beige or my skintone nude. And even then, when they wanted me to bring shoes that matched my skintone, it was hard to find the right shade of brown. With the Salone Monet heels they match my skin perfectly and they look so elegant on. These heels will forever be a staple in my wardrobe. . Having Salone Monet at Bloomingdales is also monumental because as a black-owned WOMAN-owned LUXURY brand, it's rare that you would see other black-owned brands in a luxury space. To have such visibility included in a space where we are often overlooked is AMAZING and so inspiring. It makes me happy and hopeful for the future of fashion and the black community. . .
