I'm Jessica! I am a certified weight loss coach who helps fellow Weight Watchers members stay on track when heading to Walt Disney World. I also share general tips for Weight Watchers or people heading to Disney, as I am a Lifetime WW member who lost 74 pounds and live right behind Disney.
My full time job is a social media specialist for a timeshare company; I also have worked in social media for a fitness company and for my university when I was a college student. I received a Bachelor's degree in journalism - my first job out of college was as a news producer and writer for a CBS affiliate, where my newscast was the top rated show of the hour in Southwest Florida - so I have strong writing skills and experience writing both long-form editorial copy and punchy script that is short yet demans attention.
Happy Easter and Passover, everybody! 🐣 🐰 ✡️ Throwback to last Easter when we went to Disney. It’s weird thinking that this is the first year we aren’t admiring the chocolate eggs at Grand Floridian and then heading to Magic Kingdom to meet the bunnies and watch the parade. It’s crazy how different things are now 🥺
Anyone else wishing they were at Magic Kingdom right now? 🥺 Dug through some old Festival of Fantasy photos while watching Be Our Chef on Disney+, so figured I’d pull a few to share 😊 I’m missing Disney hard right now: runs around the resorts instead of my neighborhood, hearing the fireworks every night, going to Epcot for a quick walk after dinner... I can’t wait until COVID is no longer a worry and we can enjoy it again. Hoping that’s sooner than later 🙏
Thank you @bokksu for bringing a little Japan to us here in the States so we can honeymoon while we #StayAtHome 🌸 Anthony and I should have gone about two weeks ago to Tokyo, Lake Kawaguchi, Kyoto, Osaka and Nara... but obviously that trip never happened thanks to COVID-19, so I’ve been trying to bring Japan to us, mainly in the form of cooking (and some new recipes I’ve tried have now become staples). This #Bokksu is now helping - I nearly cried when it was delivered today because I was so excited - and we are looking forward to trying some of the snacks over the coming days. I’m also really excited about the tea pairing since I’m a huge green tea fan 🍵
I had way too much fun today for our department’s spirit week - it was Disney & it’s acquired properties day, and I’ve been dying to get back into armor in a troopless time! I’m surprised my custom Zoom background didn’t swallow my helmet - I was fully expecting it to 😂 Also used this opportunity to give it a really thorough cleaning. I always like to give my bad gal and the tote she lives in a wipe down, but think about how many people touch our armor 😳 High fives, posing for pics, curious kids... ooh boy! So if you’re reading this and are a fellow cosplayer: go wash your costume if you haven’t recently!
𝐁𝐄𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐄: 😅 Lacking in self-confidence due to negative mindset & poor body image 🍫 Weird relationship with food ⚖️ Obsessed with the scale 😬 Editing pics with beauty apps to try to appear thinner (and fooling myself that it was working) 👖 Always wearing yoga pants because my 16 jeans were tight and uncomfortable (and I was refusing to admit to myself that I was a size 18) 💃 Hyper focused with how to pose in photos to hide weight 𝐀𝐅𝐓𝐄𝐑: ☺️ Self-confidence due to a more positive mindset which shifted mood and body image 🍜 Creating a healthier relationship with food where nothing is “bad” or “something I can’t have” but focusing on what makes my body feel good, including small indulgences 💪 Shifting focus from the scale to how my body looks and feels + NSVs 🙅🏼♀️ No more face tuning! 🧘🏼♀️ Wearing yoga pants during workouts and enjoying shopping for jeans (and now a size 2-4 depending on the cut/brand - women’s sizing is whack) 📸 No longer worried about posing for photos or if a candid is being taken As you can see, transformation is so much more than just the exterior... and the mental changes depend on such much more than the exterior changing. Losing weight didn’t solve all my problems, but tackling things with a more positive attitude sure did 😉 #TransformationTuesday Left: Dec 2015, 197 lbs Right: today, 133 lbs
Missing the magic? ✨ I know I’m Disney extra hard today, especially hearing Happily Ever After’s fireworks go off from my house nightly 😭 I extend this Baymax hug to each and every one of you! I’ve been getting my Disney fix in mostly with Disney+ and catching up on things like Big Hero 6: The Series (so good!) and the Mickey shorts. Plus Anthony and I love bad movies and there are a treasure trove of 70s gems on there 😂 I also want to try the Disney Zumba videos I saw someone post on Facebook! How are you getting your Disney fix at home? Let’s swap ideas in the comments ⤵️
I’m sore as hell from yesterday’s BodyCombat class, so I went back to something I haven’t done in a long time: belly dance! 💃 Did you know that I used to be in a belly dance troop when I was in high school? Swipe for some old photos! We used to dance at festivals and local Indian restaurants and I had a blast doing it. Unfortunately when I moved to Florida, I was unable to find a class I enjoyed - and that has stayed the same from Fort Myers to now Orlando 😞 But I’m super grateful I found the core-focused 30 minute class that Pop Sugar Fitness has on YouTube because it brought me back to the basics! If you’re looking for a fun at-home workout, belly dance is great. One thing I learned is that a good belly dance is able to do her entire routine in one tiny little square the size of the average tile in your house... so it’s great if you don’t have a ton of space!
🧁 ɢɪᴠᴇᴀᴡᴀʏ! 🍰 I’m teaming up with @proteinmilkshake to sweeten someone’s day with a cupcake batter protein giveaway! 𝙏𝙊 𝙀𝙉𝙏𝙀𝙍*: • Follow me and @proteinmilkshake • Like this post • Tell me your favorite protein shake flavor! • Bonus entry: tag a friend 👯♀️ In case you missed my previous post about Protein Milkshake - the powder itself is sweet but not too sweet with a really nice flavor and consistency. It’s only 1 SmartPoint on all myWW plans (you can swipe for the full nutritional info). It’s also great for baking — they have a ton of recipes on their website and I made this super filling mug cake out of the sample they sent me. I topped it with some powdered chocolate PB frosting and a dark chocolate square and it was super filling and decadent 😍 *Must be a US resident aged 18+. Giveaway not affiliated with Instagram. I’ll select a winner in 24 hours. 🥤
Things I learned when picking the preview for this video: • I need to work on my plank posture • Easing into cobra looks like a dying fish when filming a time lapse 😂 We all may have to #stayathome but I’m taking my gym’s challenge on to remain active every day in the month of April. Starting the 30 day challenge off with 20 minutes of yoga! 🧘🏼♀️ There are so many free workout videos on YouTube that are awesome - this session was a video from Yoga With Adriene - so you don’t need to look far for a good guided workout if you don’t know where to start.
I haven’t been to California in years — like, pre-Carsland! Today’s #colormeparkhopper prompt is Disney’s California Adventure. I know I had more photos of DCA back in the day but I have no idea where they are, and this is the only one I can find: the entrance back from my visit in 2009 or 2010 (I went both years and can’t remember when I took this one, as photos for both trips are in the same album and were uploaded at once... oops) 😅 Fun fact: my first trip to Disneyland was in 2009, my freshman year of high school, for a choir trip. We performed alongside many other schools that year, and my parents and I returned in 2010 to explore more of SoCal for a vacation and loved it. We looked into moving there from RI, but it was expensive and hard to find work, but when we went on another choir trip in 2011 - this time to Walt Disney World - it would seem fate was on our side. ✈️ The choir trip was that spring and we moved here that summer. Moving to Florida was so life changing for me in so many ways - there have been so many more opportunities for me here and I likely would have never met Anthony had I never loved here - so I owe a lot to Disney. ❤️
I’m really missing Flower and Garden Festival right about now, so today’s theme for #colormeparkhopper - Epcot - couldn’t have come at a better time. 💐🌐 Epcot is my go-to park. Living so close, we go to Disney nearly every night (well, when they’re open) for our after dinner walks. We wouldn’t even always necessarily ride anything or catch any shows, but just go to soak everything in and enjoy the atmosphere. Usually those evening walks would take place at Epcot, and I’ve been missing my favorite park terribly. The fact that this is all happening during my favorite festival is just adding insult to injury 😅 What are you most looking forward to doing at Disney when everything reopens?
I wanted to share a few of my favorite WW-friendly Disney meals and snacks in honor of Disney Eats day for the @colormemagic #colormeparkhopper! 🧇🍦🍱 These are not fruit and yes, some are even Mickey-shaped! Swipe ➡️ for my top 8. Some will say “max SP” because it depends on which myWW plan you’re following! 🥘 Surprisingly, buffets are a great choice for WW so long as you feel confident in your portion control abilities. I have a whole blog post about this but the short of the long of it is that you are in control of what goes on your plate almost 100%. 🧀 If you like Goldfish crackers, Disney sells their own version that has multiple servings per tub. So you can count out exactly how many SP-worth you want, but a serving is 4 SP. 🌮 Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe at Magic Kingdom has plenty of options that I’d deem “healthy for theme park food.” I love getting the rice bowl there and loading it with Zero SmartPoint options at the DIY salad bowl. 🍚 I love the teriyaki chicken meal at Katsura Grill in Epcot’s Japan Pavilion. This food is fresh, the teriyaki isn’t super heavy, and it’s very satisfying. The kids meal version is also satisfying if you want a smaller portion! 🍟 A good alternative to French fries or potato chips, the Mickey veggie chips (kind of similar to the Sensible Portions veggie straws) are 4 SP per bag. 🥙 The bowls at Satuli Canteen at Pandora are great because you can build your base out of greens or brown rice and pick your protein. The kids version of this is also very filling and a good portion size! 🍍 We all know I love me some Dole Whip, which is my fave sweet treat at Disney and is 5 SmartPoints per half cup. 🍤 I love the grilled platter at Colombia Harbor House at Magic Kingdom; I get it with shrimp and it comes with rice and tons of veggies.
