Walking into 2021 like... ✨

Audrey’s First Christmas was so much of a success that I forgot to hop on social media and wish you all a Merry Christmas! 🎄  Apart from being her First Christmas, we now have an 11-month-old baby girl on our hands. She officially has teeth — two bottom ones in the front! 🦷 She is getting better and better at standing unassisted, especially if she hears some @mariahcarey Christmas classics. Our girl’s got good taste. 🎶  Her new favorite word is “oooh”. I know that’s technically a sound but she seems to know how to use it appropriately - like when she’s opening all her loud and colorful presents. 😯  She’s better at communicating in general. She clearly says “Mommy” and “Dad” and she also points at anything she wants to have or wants us to look at. 👉🏽 In special instances, she’ll point at something while turning your face in the direction of whatever has caught her attention.  More than ever, we are reminded of everything we are grateful for. We’re grateful to have our little girl to keep us on our toes. But we’re also very thankful to have you. Thanks for the birthday wishes, everyone! Honestly, this has been the hardest year I’ve ever known: losing my father, a global pandemic, navigating new parenthood, etc. It makes the day bittersweet. But I’m grateful.  I’m grateful for my health. I’m grateful that I still get to do what I love. I’m grateful for friends and family and friends like family. I’m grateful to have a beautiful (stubborn) child. But mostly, I’m grateful for my Husband who’s been my rock and has shown me unconditional love in a way that both reminds me of and points me to Jesus.  Here’s hoping this year will be better. But if it isn’t, I’m grateful that I don’t have to do this alone.  (And if you feel alone, reach out to me. I’m sure you’ll find that’s not the case.) 

So grateful that Grandma has come to visit for the weekend! These two are best buddies. Let the silliness commence! 🤪

Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃 You turned 10 months old a couple days ago! Double digits! You get sillier by the day. And more curious too. You now enjoy throwing things off the side of the bed and watching where they land. You’re 9 months old today, Audrey! You’ve officially spent as much time outside my body as you’ve spent inside.  Your new skill is standing. You’ve been practicing whenever you get a chance: in your play area, on the changing table, in the bathtub, in your crib at bedtime... 😒 You still need to hold onto something for balance but that doesn’t stop you.  You’ve also started singing and dancing to any music you hear. Disney songs and Motown hits tend to be your favorite. Your go-to dance moves are swaying with one hand in the air or rocking your hips back and forth. Not sure where you got those moves from but I’m glad you’re expressing yourself 😂  You’ve moved onto multi-ingredient food and love anything that has coconut milk in it — a true Island Girl! 🇹🇹 I’m still so amazed at how much you’ve grown and how you’ve already developed your own little preferences. You are eight months old today, Audrey! Every month I’m amazed at how much more you are able to do. You like touching things with your little pointer finger now. You’re starting to get the hang of using a spoon to eat your food. Just today you started clapping! On a scarier note, you learned how to stand up in your crib… at 3am. You’re one determined little girl! I’m so excited to see how much more you will grow now IN OUR NEW HOUSE!!!!

Does anyone else just stare at pictures of their kids when they go to sleep? All day I can’t wait until Audrey goes to sleep so I have a little time to get stuff done. But once she finally goes to sleep, I miss her! Parenting is a trip! 😂  📸: @jcwing5040
